Gerri shows how to check tyre pressure without a gauge: the centre lug should sit in the middle of the contact patch, with the two outer lugs just touching the ground. If the outer lugs are off the ground, the tyre is over-inflated and needs air let out.

Okay, just a little, little tip that's very handy is when you walk past a tyre and you haven't got a pressure gauge, but you're just wondering how your tyres are going, pressure wise. Just get your lug in the centre and the outside two lugs should be just touching the ground. And a really good rule of thumb to see just if you haven't got a pressure gauge to know whether you've got enough the right pressure in your tyres. Okay, we'll go to the front tyre now. And this is a good example of over inflated tyre. You've got the lug not quite in the centre, but good enough. But notice how these two lugs are off the ground. So that tyre, if you walked past it, didn't have a pressure gauge. You'd need to let the pressure down so those lugs touch the ground. You still need a pressure gauge, but that's a good guide.
