In this short devotional, the speaker reflects on personal disappointment and outlines three spiritual practices to reorient one’s desires toward God. The first practice, exposure, involves daily, consistent immersion in the Word of God, likened to light that nourishes a planted soul. The second, exaltation, is the joyful, exuberant lifting up of Jesus’ name, based on the biblical promise that delighting in the Lord yields the desires of the heart, creating a cycle of deeper satisfaction. The third, exhortation, calls believers to share the experience by encouraging others to be exposed to the Word and to exalt God, positioning the individual as a conduit for God’s hunger, thereby reinforcing personal satisfaction through outward ministry. The overall message is that aligning desires with God through these three steps leads to lasting spiritual fulfillment.

I was meditating on this disappointment and I found 3 ways that I can reorient my desires. And what I mean by reorient my desires is making sure that your desires are placed in the right place. I'm gonna open up my notes so I can get this. First, so I found 3 ways that you can orient yourself so that you are having the right desires. The first thing is exposure. You need to make sure that you are properly exposed to the word of God. And what I mean by properly exposed to the word of God is that the word of God is a light. That light needs to shine on you daily, consistently, continuously, so that you can get the nutrients that you need. You are planted in the garden of God, and the only thing that can sustain your life and growth is the light of God. And the light of God is the word of God, the word made flesh, which is Jesus. He's the light of the world. So you need to expose yourself to God, and that is gonna shift and change your desires. Something else that you need to do is you need to exalt. Exaltation. Now you're wondering, what is exaltation? Exaltation is you using your soul to lift up the name of Jesus in an exuberant and happy and delightful way. The Bible says, delight yourself in the world. The Bible says, delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Meaning that if you delight in the Lord, he's going to satisfy that delight by giving you himself. And when he gives you himself, it's going to cause you to want him more. And as you You want Him more, He's going to give you more of Him, and the cycle continues until you are totally satisfied with God. And all that you do now is you exalt His holy name. And the third thing is exhortation, meaning that now after you have been exposed to the word of God so much that you desire God and you exalt God, and after you exalt God, you exhort others into exalting and being exposed to the word of God. It is very difficult for you to lack something that you're giving. So if you want to be satisfied, if you want to be hungry for God, then allow yourself to be a funnel in which God's hunger can be deployed into the life of others.
