In this sermon, the speaker weaves together Exodus 21, a parable from Matthew, and Galatians 4:6‑7 to illustrate how believers are released from the debt and bondage of sin, just as Israel was freed from Egypt. He emphasizes that God’s compassion that freed the Israelites should inspire believers to show mercy and kindness, warning that without such compassion the fruits of the Spirit will not manifest. The speaker connects the Old‑Testament imagery of debt‑release to the New‑Testament declaration of sonship, inviting the congregation to collectively proclaim “Abba, Father,” affirming their identity as children of God and the source of their life. The overall message is that Jesus can set individuals free from spiritual slavery, leading to transformed lives marked by compassion and spiritual fruit.

That is what happened to us on that cross. We were released from the debt that we owed. We were released from the bondage of sin. The master had compassion upon us and told every owner, every demon that laid hold onto us by way of sin, let my people go. Verse 27, then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. So in Exodus 21, God is teaching them, remember, you just got delivered from Egypt. You should understand how bad it is to be treated in such a terrible way. That should lead you to have more compassion, to be merciful, to have pity on those around you. And if we don't get this concept, you will be free, you will be forgiven, but you will never bear the fruits of the spirit because you will be unkind based on how you are handling life from your trauma and past experience. I'm no therapist, but I can tell you Jesus can set you free. So now I want us to understand this so that we can closely relate with the story of Exodus and this parable that we just read in Matthew. At some point, we were all slaves in a spiritual sense. Stay with me here because we're going somewhere. I'm trying to paint this picture and hopefully it's It's all making sense to us. Let's keep going. Galatians chapter 4, verses 6 to 7. Remember where we came from, y'all. We came from spiritual Egypt. Amen. Galatians chapter 4 and verse 6: And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father! Can we all just say that together? 1, 2, 3, go! Abba, Father! That means my source. That means everything I am is a result of who he is. I come from him. That's My originator, my progenitor. That's the genesis of my life. Abba, Father.
