Three steps to discern God's voice: write down impressions as you listen, keep a journal to reference later, and validate everything against Scripture. God won't contradict Himself, so if it doesn't align with the Bible, it's not from Him.

The second thing that I do is I take the posture of an active listener, meaning I have a pen and paper. I want to be able to write down whatever the Lord is speaking. The Bible that you are reading right now came as a result of people documenting what they heard from God. So you need to be able to come up with your own journal that you can refer to throughout your walk with Christ when God speaks to you, especially in seasons like this. The third thing that I do is I always compare what I'm hearing with scripture. God does not contradict himself. He has spoken in time past through the prophets, Hebrews chapter 1 verse says, and now speaks through his Son. So you can compare what you are hearing to the Old and New Covenant, and it's going to find patterns and consistency. That is a clear, very easy way to make sure that it is God speaking. Can you validate this with scripture?
