Christian Osgood says Trump's tariff rollout was terrible, but market drops aren't losses unless you sell. He blames BlackRock and Vanguard for pushing people into stocks, and recommends real estate and business ownership instead, especially near retirement.

President Donald Trump is not responsible for your stock market value. I think we can all agree the calculations for the tariffs were terrible and the way they rolled it out was absolutely idiotic. But it's been one week. Calm down. This just happened. You only lose the money if you sell the stock. You bought it at a high, now it's at a low. This is basic economics. Give it a second. Now, if you're retiring this week, sorry, that's kind of a bummer. Probably shouldn't have gambled on the stock market. I would recommend investing in things you can control, like real estate on long-term fixed rate debt or buying a business. Control your incomes. I get paid the same every single month regardless. I hold zero stock. This doesn't affect me. All of my payments are on long-term fixed rates, so it's kind of the same. But if you fell for the stock market scam, that's on you. And that's not Trump's fault. That's BlackRock, Vanguard, and all the other big companies.
