A New Year A New You WELLNESS WHEEL PART #4
16 Nov 2025 · 0 min
This is a podcast episode (Part 4 of a four-part series) by Pamela Jean that concludes a series on the Wellness Wheel by covering the final two domains: career and spiritual wellness. Pamela emphasizes personal responsibility (you are the center/common denominator of your choices), encourages aligning work with values (noting people spend about 90,000 hours working over a lifetime), and defines spiritual wellness broadly (a force larger than oneself; practices like prayer, Bible study, meditation, or yoga). The episode closes with CTAs: a free Wellness Wheel Assessment workbook (via email or link) and a paid year-long program “A New You 365” starting Jan 3 with registration opening Dec 20 and only six openings.

Welcome to A New Life podcast with Pamela Jean, where it's all about empowering women to empower more women. Get ready, friends, to create a new life. And here is your host, Pamela Jean.
Hello, my friends. Welcome to this episode of A New Life podcast. I'm Pamela Jean. It is part number four in our four part series, a new U365. So in the last three podcasts, part one, two and three, I covered the different components of the wellness wheel. Number one, we talked about the physical and social wellness. Number two, Part two, we talked about financial and intellectual wellness. Last episode, part number three, we talked about our environment and emotional wellness. Well, today, friends, we're going to dive into the last two components of the wellness wheel and those are career and spiritual categories. So to recap just a little bit, the idea of a wellness wheel is really quite simple. Balance the different areas of your life and you will see your life improve. Your life will become more balanced. You will experience fewer big swings, fewer highs and less lows. Everything is going to be a lot more even. And honestly, you're going to find find a level of peace you really didn't even know was possible. What I really want you to remember and always know is that you are the center of your wellness wheel. You are the center. Don't forget that. Because while you're working on those different areas of your life to level everything out and to find that place of peace, you're going to be doing some pretty hard work on yourself as well. You know, you are the common denominator. With every good and bad decision in your life, you are the common denominator. So to be able to embrace that and work on yourself is so very important. And you know, one thing that's good to always keep in mind is that you are where you are because of the choices that you've made. It's not your parents fault, or your siblings or a friend or a spouse or anyone else's fault. You chose. You made the decision. You are where you are because of your choices. You choose your feelings, you are in charge of your thoughts. Now it takes emotional maturity to be able to look at that and say, you know what, you're right. I am in charge of my feelings. I am in charge of my thoughts. I am responsible for those. Once you reconcile that doing this work really is not that hard. You know, people in your life that can't take ownership of a bad career or bad finances, they find someone else to blame. And you know who those people are. That person is always going to struggle with working on themselves because they're not being very honest with themselves and realizing that, you know, they are the common denominator and they are where they are because of their choices and their thought patterns. So quick recap. Eight areas that we are discussing are physical, social, financial, intellectual, environmental, emotional, and today our focus is career and spiritual. So can you believe I found this? I have to share a statistic with you and I'm just shocked when I read it myself. Can you believe that most people will work 90, 90,000 hours over a lifetime? 90,000 hours. That is incredible. And can you imagine spending 90,000 hours of your life doing something you don't enjoy or is not fulfilling? So are you working for yourself or are you working for a boss? Are you working on your terms? Are you building something for your future or a company's bottom line? Career, wellness, or being professionally well means that you gain personal satisfaction and enrichment from your work. It also means that your work is going to align with your values, goals and lifestyle. I mean, I, for me personally, I can sell pretty much anything. I love sales and I enjoy selling. But if I don't believe in what I'm selling, I'm not going to be a very good salesperson. So making that the work that you invest your time in, 90,000 hours over your lifetime is something that really lines up with your values and your lifestyle and your ethics. The why behind your career should be bigger than you. Have you ever stopped to think about that? I don't know what career path you're on or what you're doing or if you're just stuck in a job. Sometimes you have to do a job and stay stuck in a job to be able to get to that career that is really meaningful and what you really, really want to do for the rest of your life. We have to do what we have to do sometimes to be able to do what we get to do later, if that makes sense. So making an impact and having the ability to change a sliver of your world, of the world is so very important through your work. Finding a career that you love isn't always easy. But start by considering your values and your goals. Focus on reasons that bigger than you and you will see where you can start making an impact in the world. And how awesome would it not be to create a profession with a purpose? Since you're spending 90,000 hours of your lifetime working, wouldn't you want to have a profession with a purpose? That's a beautiful thing. So when we do the wellness wheel work, we will talk about all aspects of your career and, and perhaps you are in a job right now that isn't what you want to do for a career. That's okay. We all have to start somewhere. But if you're doing a job and you're stuck, we've got some work to do. But if you're doing a job knowing that it's a stepping stone to get to that career that has a purpose, that's a beautiful thing and that's just investing the time. So my next topic is spiritual wellness. Spiritual wellness can be really, really confusing, but it doesn't have to be. Being spiritual does not mean that you have to belong to a specific religious group. Being spiritual means that there is a force in the world outside of yourself that's bigger than you. For me, my spiritual guide is my Lord and heavenly Father. Jesus is my guide. He takes every step of my life right alongside me. My faith wasn't always this well defined, truly a work in progress for most of my life. But I feed my soul every day with prayer, Bible study and conversations with the Lord. He is with me when the sun rises and sets and beside me through the dark of night. You don't have to identify with that. That is okay. That is my spiritual compass and that is absolutely what's aligned for me. Your might look different than mine and that is okay because as you grow spiritually, you learn to be mindful of the world around you. You really learn to look outside of yourself, consider and take stock of what you allow into your soul. There are evil and immoralities all around us and it's up to us, us to live within our moral compass. If you just hop onto social media or turn on the television or sit down and watch a movie, whatever that is, going to see things that are attacking your moral compass constantly. If you are centered spiritually, it'll be a lot easier for you to not allow those, those toxic spiritual nastiness into your soul. So set a time. Set aside some time every single day for personal reflection. Schedule time with yourself to read the Bible, pray, engage in meditation, yoga, find your Zen place, but allow yourself to grow spiritually every single day in whatever form of spirituality that you choose or that you happen to practice. So friends, that is a wrap on the series explaining the Wellness Wheel. Would you like a free copy of a wellness assessment workbook? Six people is where I want to start with that. So on Monday, December 20th the registration is going to open and I'm going to be honest with you. This is going to be a big investment. This is going to be very expensive. But girls, you are worth it. What health plan, financial plan, spiritual plan, career plan? Have you ever been a part of that is going to support you 365 days an entire year of your life? I think we don't follow through on our New Year's resolutions because we don't have someone to lock arms with us.
