Hello my friends. Welcome to today's podcast. Thank you for joining me. Today we are going to dive into a New life podcast where we are featuring our wellness wheel and we're going to talk about how this wellness wheel is going to tie right in with the new year coming around the corner. We've got a new you, a new year that we are going to plan, a new you. So first of all, before we get started, I want to ask you a question. Have you ever been riding your bike and you had one of the tires on your bike was flat or there's a bulge in the tire that is preventing you from being able to pedal very well? You cannot get uphill because this tire isn't completely inflated properly and it's not functioning well. Well, the wellness wheel is really, really similar to how the wheel on your bike or your vehicle or whatever functions. The idea of a wellness wheel is really quite simple. Balance the different areas of your life and you will start to see that your life will improve your life balanced. You will experience fewer big swings, not the super highs and the super lows. Everything will be a little bit more even and a whole lot more in a peaceful place for yourself. It's a little more complex than that, but ultimately, once you have each of the wellness wheel elements balanced, you are going to see a shift. It's about living life to its fullest and maintaining continuous positive activity to keep you happy and healthy. The fact is, you are where you are because of the choices you have made. It's not your parents fault, your siblings, a friend's fault, or even your spouse's fault. It's all on you. You chose your feelings and you are in charge of your thoughts. Now, some of the decisions have indeed been forced on you. It's true that there are things that have happened to you that have caused you to make certain choices. And I understand that those times in life were out of your control. That's simply a fact of life. But everyone you meet has things that happened to them. It's what you do with those things that separate people. So where do you want to be in the future? What decisions can you make right now that will improve your health and well being? This is how the wellness wheel can help. The wheel encourages you to reflect on your life and your decisions relating to all of the categories. Then you set goals for yourself. Each designed to bring out a balance. Remember, all of these different aspects are currently part of your life. They're part of you. They may seem disconnected, but they all begin and end with you. And once you have them balanced, everything is going to be connected and have a beautiful synergy. And I want you to always remember this, this very important fact. You are the center of the Wellness Wheel. Everything around the Wellness Wheel is centered and focused on you. There are areas in our life that when in balance, we find this place of incredible peace. Now, almost every day, or at least several times a week, when I write my gratitudes in my journal, I almost, I would say four or five, maybe even more times, I will write I'm grateful for peace in my life, for a peaceful home, for a peaceful heart. If you don't have this in your life, please sit up and pay attention and take a good listen to the Wellness Wheel. The eight areas of the wheel are physical, social, financial, intellectual, environmental, emotional, career, and spiritual. If you pause and think about what keeps you up at night, undeniably the nighttime struggle is because one of the areas I just mentioned of your Wellness Wheel is out of balance. If we're honest with ourselves, most of us have more than one area causing life to go off the rails, preventing that balance and peace. If you're not taking good care of your physical body, you will be feeling sluggish, achy and tired all of the time. No energy. Or perhaps you're going to end up needing a knee replacement because you're 20 to 100 pounds overweight because you're neglecting your physical Wellness Wheel. The thought of working out or changing what you put into your body is daunting. Or perhaps there is a deep rooted reason that you are abusing your body with food. Since you are not in a good headspace with your body, social aspects can be triggered. You have chosen to live the life of a hermit. The longer you isolate yourself, the harder it is to think about attending a networking meeting for your job. Or you can't accept an invitation for a girls night out because you were embarrassed with your appearance. Now you have declined so many invitations that your friends have stopped inviting you. So we have the physical component and then we have the social component. Next we have financial. Financial stress can be easily, easily one of the hardest things and can be so overwhelming. Whether it be our income or uncertain or spending habits are unstable inst shakes our wellness, finding the root of our purchasing habits or spending habits, or finally discovering peace financially, lifelong reliable income truly is the only answer. So Life gets so busy sometimes and overwhelming that you've stopped caring for your intellectual fitness. Our brain is a muscle. What happens to muscles that do not get used? They become weak and inferior. A well balanced life must exercise our brain and feed our knowledge. The health and well being of your environment are also critical to your physical and mental health. There are hidden levels of toxicity around us in our everyday world, some of which we can control. Each choice adds up and can make a difference in our overall health. Deciding only to allow healthy products into your home is a beautiful choice and you have full control of that. You are the gatekeeper of your home because of all the worry. Emotionally you're a wreck. Self sabotage has become the norm through your insecurity. Emotionally you are crippled. You have taken talked yourself into believing you have very little worth. Sadness and anxiety become your way of life. Your career then or your occupation will suffer with all the stress and worry. You become stuck in your career. The drive and ambition you once had are long gone and you find yourself spinning in a field and you don't even like what you're doing anymore. As a result of your wellness wheel being completely out of balance, spiritually you have been drained dry. Hope and face are the thing or a thing of the past. You find yourself asking why me? More often than not, the struggle is real when you think about the future without hope and faith. So friends, that was just a tiny glimpse of those eight categories. But for the next several days, I'm going to take two of those categories and talk about them a little more deeply. Today, those topics are the physical component and the social component. So let's dive into physical and when I'm speaking, I want you to relate these words and these points to your life and see where it fits. Taking care of your body is extremely important. If we are honest, most of us do not do a great job of taking care of our bodies. Adopting a health and wellness plan truly is a must. And changing our lifestyle and our relationship with food is really important since we do not get all the nutrients we need from our food. Adding good quality supplements is very important for overall immune health and quality of life. What you put in your body plays a major role in your physical health, including what we drink in terms of alcohol or sweets, sugary sodas or other unhealthy habits. Your body needs nutrition, not garbage. Our food consumption should be balanced, but it doesn't mean you have to exclude treats. It doesn't mean you have to live a boring life when it comes to food at all. But it does mean we should be intentional about what we're putting in our bodies. Adding supplements that are safe and absorbable is vital for overall immune health. I have teamed up with an incredible wellness company. I'll share more about that that later. But creating a plan to ensure our physical health is the best way for success. Weekly meal planning, meal prepping and snack prep are essential in successfully committing to your health. If the temptation as you're running errands or you're out at work driving in your car is to swing through fast food, have something sitting right next to you that is healthy and good for you and take that temptation away. Sleep is also just as important as exercise. Inadequate sleep is detrimental in many ways. Finding sleep solutions via nutrition and natural remedies is really, really vital. Constant exercise is a must as well. Our bodies need to move every day. This doesn't mean a hardcore regiment. It just means a commitment to move your body every single day. I always tell people, if you are not working out right now, like you're just starting from square one, really, truly start with one walk around the block, just one time around and tomorrow add two times and then add three times. The most important thing though, friends, is that you start. You have to start. I want to talk about the social component of the wellness wheel next. Social wellness is not a high priority for most of us, but having a good network of friends and support and friendships can play a huge role in keeping us on the road to overall wellness. Healthy relationships are very, very important. Loneliness and isolation can bring with it a whole host of problems, including depression. Depression leads to a plethora of mental concerns as well as physical concerns. I think with the COVID chaos that we've all lived through, we all of our mental acuity and our social skills have been challenged. I know mine have been. You know, there, there's a group of people that, if I'm really, really honest, I love and miss dearly. But we just don't get together like we used to. Socially. We've changed because of COVID We're a little bit more reserved because of COVID And I think you probably are experiencing that too, that your deep, deep friendships, those are still there. But the people that you may have just, hey, let's go grab lunch or let's meet for a glass of wine after dinner or let's go have a girls night. We just don't do that anymore. And I do blame Covid and the isolation that came with that time as part of that. But friends, having a sincere friend to share your Burdens with can reduce stress and even lead to a solution to a problem. You never know. It's important to allow people in your life, life that live by the same moral compass. If you have people in your life that don't take care of themselves, they're not going to care about taking care of you. So if you have friends that abuse their bodies with alcohol or drugs, they're not going to care about your body. If you have friends that don't care about isolation, your isolation, their own isolation, they're not going to care about yours. It's really important that you have people in your life that line up with your morals and your ethics and encourage you and inspire you to be the best version of yourself. I heard a saying a long time ago called birds of a feather flock together. And that's really, really true. If you have teenagers, you know exactly what I mean when I say show me your friends and I'll show you your future. So who we surround ourselves with socially is really, really important. And that also means it also means eliminating toxic relationships. Have people in your life that will elevate you and will guard your heart when you don't have the strength to guard your own heart. In addition, meeting people from different backgrounds, walks of life, and experiencing other points of view can provide a wealth of knowledge and understanding, help you grow as a human being. It also teaches us to build trust and how to communicate more effectively. When you dive into the social component, it's going to challenge you and help you in so many different ways. It can help you with your career, with your growth of your career. All the spokes of this wellness wheel are interconnected. Having your social acuity on point is going to help in your career. It's going to help with your physical aspects, it's going to help with your intellect. All of these things are connected and just imagine the places you will go when you have your wellness wheel in balance. So friends, thank you for being part of today. Tomorrow in part two, I will highlight and cover the financial and intellectual component of the wellness wheel and we'll talk about how those two components add stress, relieves stress, and all of the things about financial and intellectual wellness. Thank you for joining me. I look forward to seeing you here tomorrow when we talk about part number two.
Thank you for joining us today on a New Life podcast. We will see you next time.
