Pamela Jean argues that anxiety comes from being out of sync with your core values. She reframes setbacks as lessons happening for you, not to you, and suggests practical moves like reading, cooking, and walking to realign yourself and reduce fear.

Hello, friends, and welcome to this week's episode of A New Life podcast. Thanks for being here. So I'm going to ask you this question. What is the opposite meaning of anxiety? Well, if you Google that and look it up in the dictionary, you're going to see several different opposites of anxiety. But the opposite of anxiety that I'm going to talk about today is alignment. And this has been a crazy time in our world. A lot of people are reaching levels of anxiety that can be very debilitating, that are crippling emotionally. It's been a really, really difficult time. But I want to talk a little bit about how you can align with yourself and that will help dissipate the feeling of anxiety. So when you are aligned with who you really are, you won't feel as anxious, insecure or out of place. What you're really going to feel when you are totally and truly aligned with who you really are, you're going to feel more confident, you are going to feel more self assured, you're going to have a feeling of contentment, that you really are exactly where you are meant to be. You're going to understand that everything in this world, everything that has happened in your world is happening for a reason. And the important thing to understand about things that happen for a reason are that those are things that are truly working for you, not to you. And I know I've said this before in past podcasts, but I believe it so much that everything that happens in your life, good, bad or otherwise, happening for you, not to you. And that is all based off of your attitude towards life. Something bad happens to you and all you do is dwell on the bad, well, then you're going to stay in a bad place. And when you're in a bad place, things like anxiety and fear, low confidence, low self esteem, all of those things come with it. But if you go into every day with an attitude of this is happening for me and what can I learn from this situation? Every bad thing that happens to you, happens for you, happens for a reason. And when you seek out what that reason is, it's the opportunity for you to learn and grow. Oftentimes people will not do something, whether it be a career path or in a relationship or in life in general, out of fear, because they're afraid of failure. I don't want to fail. What Are people going to say, there she goes, she lost a business, There she goes, she lost a relationship. You're worried about what other people are going to say and think. And fear of failure is what is holding you back from making anything positive happen in your life. But fear, I promise you, is like a prison. It's like having shackles around your arms and having your hands tied behind your back. That's what fear is. It keeps you suppressed. Fear and anxiety keeps you suppressed. But if you can embrace the idea of failure and embrace the idea that out of my failure, that's where my progression actually happens. I like to think about it when you pull back an arrow, if you have a bow and you put in an arrow and you're pulling it back to shoot, you have to pull the arrow back before it can go zooming forward. And that's how I feel about failure. But if you are not aligned with yourself and fully understand where the place that anxiety plays in your life, you are going to stay stuck. And if you are aligned with yourself, anxiety holds you hostage, fear holds you captive. Nothing positive comes out of anxiety or fear. So having the ability, friends, to align yourself with who you really are, what your core values are, what your moral compass is, is so incredibly important. When you think about the progress of your life, when you are focusing on the past, when you're overthinking and creating those negative scenarios in your head. And that's a very normal thing. If you allow anxiety to play a big role in your life, it forces you into a place of lacking in a lot of things. Your brain is such a powerful thing, friends, and your mind can overcome some pretty crazy, crazy situations. But you have to allow your brain to search for the positive things and work from always a place of abundance. Negativity will attract more negativity and ultimately will cause anxiety. If you work from a place of positive, a positive mindset, positive things, I promise you are going to happen. When you're aligned with yourself, you understand that everything is happening in your life as it is supposed to be happening. And that is hard to wrap your head around sometimes. I get that. I understand that because I have been in really, really low situations in my life. And I promise I looked in the mirror times and I have said, how is this my life? How did I get here? How did I get here? And why am I here? Am I being punished for something? I'm a good person. How, how is my life so miserable when I know I'm a good person and I'm doing good every single day. But friends, it's when you dig into why you're in that situation, understanding how got there from the choices that you've made, and start to think about those things from a positive mindset. So when you think about the past and you're focusing on past mistakes, overthinking the scenarios of I shoulda, coulda, would've, things would be different today. If you stop thinking about that and start thinking about things from a positive place, you're going to start attracting more positive things. Have you ever been around someone who complains all the time like it doesn't matter what it is? You know, they get in your car, oh, it's so hot in here. Oh, it's so cold in here. They're always complaining it's, it's negative. Or you go out to lunch with them and they complain about the coffee being too hot or the soup being too cold, or they're just never happy. How do you feel after you've been around that person? I don't know about you, but I always feel heavy and like, oh, icky. I don't want to be around people that are negative. So when you align yourself with people that are positive and you maintain that positive mindset yourself, positive things are going to start happening. Jobs, personal relationships, obstacles, heartbreak, awkward encounters. All of those things happen to serve you. They happen to mold you into the person that you are truly meant to be. You know, there was a plan when you were born years ago that you were supposed to be a certain person. You were meant for, for greatness. You are meant for very specific deeds, very specific things to happen in life. When you're aligned with who you're meant to be, the feeling of anxiousness will dissipate. It will not hold you hostage. Try doing some things that you love to do. Maybe you just love to sit in a quiet room and read a book. Do that. Maybe you love to be in the kitchen and create this beautiful meal. Do that. Maybe you just simply want to go for a walk with your dog. Then do that. If that's what brings you joy. I want you to really, really focus on all of those things that make you feel good and allow your mental state to be positive and happy and think about the good things and not the bad things. And whatever that looks like for you, whether it's a walk or it is spending time in the kitchen or time with a girlfriend or time with a spouse, whatever that looks like, make sure you allow proper time for you to do the things that you love. So the opposite of anxiety is self alignment and if you are aligned with who you really are, and if you stay true to your moral compass and you stay true to who you are really meant to be, you are going to live the best possible life. Friends, thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you're having an awesome day and we will talk to you again next week.
