Hello my friends and welcome to this week's episode of A New Life podcast. I'm Pamela Jean. Thank you for joining me. The purpose of my podcast is to help you create the life and business of your dreams while living your God calling. I believe that we are on this earth for a very specific reason and you go nowhere by accident. Everyone you encounter today is meant for you to encounter. There are no accidents. It's up to us to look outside of ourselves and seek out the meaning of each encounter. The best way to feel better about yourself and grow in your confidence is to serve others unconditionally. So who are you meant to meet today? Whose path will cross yours? When you look outside of yourself and see others in front of you, life changes. Give it a try and see for yourself. Today's episode I want to talk about the importance of having a A breakdown in your life. I know what you're thinking right now. A breakdown? Oh my goodness. Why would I want a breakdown in my life? By the end of this podcast, you will understand and maybe, just maybe, you will look forward to your next breakdown. According to the Webster Dictionary, the definition of breakdown is to stop functioning because of breakage or wear number two to become inoperative or ineffective, number three to fail in strength or vitality, and number four to succumb to mental or emotional stress. Can you identify? Wow. I think everyone listening right now can identify with how it feels and what it means to have a breakdown. Are you in the middle of a breakdown right now? Is your marriage suffering? Your relationship with your children? How's your career and business going? Looking back on my life experience and experiences, I have gone through a lot of different breakdowns. Some of the breakdowns dealt with family, marriage, friendships. Other breakdowns were in business, church, church life. Let's face it, breakdowns are part of life. I don't think any of us know of one person who's never experienced a breakdown or had a hard time or walked through a difficult stage. Oftentimes we feel victimized by a breakdown. For instance, if your breakdown is because of a failed marriage, you might feel like a victim. You are fired from your job. You might feel like a victim of an unreasonable company or wrongfully treated by your boss. But friends, nothing good comes from the mindset of a victim. Victimhood will keep you stuck every single time, keep you in Pain and can be paralyzing. Paralyzing in a way that you cannot move forward in life. What if you flipped that on its head and approached having a breakdown as a good thing? Every breakdown you had in the past was difficult. I have no doubt it was. I mean, I know mine were, but what did it look like six months afterwards or even a year later? Friends, we have to have breakdowns in life to set us up for a breakthrough. Stop and think about that a little bit. We have to have breakdowns in life to set us up for a breakthrough. Have you ever seen a building or a home after it has caught fire and burned to the ground? Most times there's nothing left. The owner of the building or home have to start from scratch. Rebuilding a clean slate, if you will. Step one, the owner calls the insurance company and starts the claim process. This takes time. Patience is required. Once the paperwork is done, inspections squared away, a check arrives from the insurance company. And now the homeowner or owner of the building gets to start over. A clean slate. You get to draw up a new plan, dream about all things new. In fact, make all of the improvements to the space that never would have had the opportunity to be made if the building hadn't burned to the ground. Fast forward to a year later. They're now settled into a new place and wow, what an improvement. Everything is perfect and new, exactly the way they always wanted it to be. If they hadn't experienced that part of their life burned to the ground, they wouldn't be reaping the benefits of a new space. As hard as that process was, the owner finds gratitude because of the fire. Because if it weren't for the fire, they wouldn't have the opportunity to burn down or I'm sorry, they wouldn't have the opportunity to start over and rebuild after it burned down. They had the opportunity to rebuild. Breakdowns in your life are just like that of a house that burned to the ground. Isaiah 66, verse 9 says, I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born. So friends, the pain that you're experiencing because of a breakdown is temporary. It's temporary in the same way that the building owner had to start from scratch. A clean slate. Your breakdown is an opportunity for you to wipe the slate clean and prepare for a break through God is your insurance company. Bring your breakdown to the Lord. He will assess. He will give you the advice. He will show you the way to rebuild. And in time, you too will find gratitude in that breakdown. Breakdowns are necessary for our growth. Think about it if everything is going smoothly in your life, what will you learn? How will you grow? If everything is going perfect all the time, you are not going to be stretched, you're not going to be challenged. There will be no incentive and no motivation to change and grow. We are human and quite honestly, most of us don't want to make a choice to grow. We grow and learn new things because of the hardest times we experience. That is why it's called growing pains. Remember in the middle, waking up in the middle of the night as a little kid and your legs would be on fire, cramping and throbbing because you were growing, you were experiencing physical growing pains. The best lessons in life are given to us through breakdowns and setbacks. I am a firm believer that breakdowns result in breakthroughs and setbacks are only temporary, setting you up for something amazing, something amazing to happen in your life. So the next time you're in the middle of a breakdown, because, friends, if you're in one right now, you'll get through it. You will survive. You will. But you will have another one. There is something else waiting in your future. You will have another one. So the next time you're in the middle of that breakdown, setback or life crisis, pause. Keep your wits about you and breathe. Keep your emotions in check. Don't make decisions from an emotionally charged space. Find a quiet spot and ask yourself, what am I supposed to learn from this circumstance? Things happen outside of us that we are not in control of. And it's painful and it hurts and it's challenging all of the things. But if you pause long enough and ask yourself, and ask God, what am I supposed to learn from this? How am I supposed to grow? Resist the temptation to be a victim. God doesn't intend the hard times to harm you. The hard times are for you to gain knowledge, grow. Learn more about yourself. Learn how you played a role in the breakdown. How can you step into a place of truth about yourself? I really believe that breakdowns are meant for you. It's not something that happens to you. That is a mindset shift right there that's so important. And you can take this information, you can take what you're learning today and apply it to every area of your life. Apply it in your business. Why isn't your business growing the way you want and need it to? What is broken down in your business that might need to be tore down to the studs and rebuilt and started completely over? What part of your marriage or your relationships is suffering? What can you do differently to break through that challenging marriage to mend the marriage to come back together as one. What can you do? You can sit and be a victim and feel badly and let your emotions control your actions. Or you can pause and say what do I need to learn here? What do I need to learn in my business to grow my business to reach the six figures, the seven figures that I want to reach that I deserve to reach, that I know I can reach? What needs to be broken down and rebuilt? What part of the relationship needs to be broken down to the ground and rebuilt? Breakthroughs? Breakdowns are not punishment. Breakdowns help you grow into who you are meant to be. Would you like some coaching to navigate the breakdown that you are experiencing right now? I have a gift for you if you want it. If you've ever worked with me in the past, you know that I'm a big encourager of journaling and purging your heart onto paper. In the show description you will find a guided journal prompting exercise to help you navigate your breakdown. The journal prompt is a PDF that you can download, print and do the work. In fact, print multiple copies because my challenge to you today is to identify the breakdowns, present and past and identify what you were meant to learn through each of those breakdowns.
