So today's podcast truly is a great topic that everyone listening will be able to walk away with a new perspective. The title for today is Guard what's in your heart. Have you ever experienced someone who is hateful and mean spirited? Have you ever wondered why some people are so very cruel and ugly with their words, words and thoughts? I know I have and I'm sure you have too. I want to share with you the importance of guarding what you allow to take up camp in your heart. Do you know that whatever is on the inside, whatever you fill your heart with, eventually spills to the outside. So basically, if your heart is filled with hate or resentment, that is what you will put out into the world and oftentimes doing damage to the people that we love the most. So here are four emotions to watch for. Guilt, Anger, Greed and jealousy. So let's talk about guilt. First of all, when you are filled with guilt, and I know I have been filled with guilt before, and I know you've been filled with guilt before, you're basically saying I owe you that you have Done something that leaves you knowing that you owe someone. Maybe you took something that wasn't yours to take, or maybe you didn't fulfill a promise. Or if you're in the wrong about something and feel feeling guilty, it takes up residency in your heart. So what do you do to remedy the feeling of guilt? Well, first of all, if you've truly done something wrong, if you have truly hurt another individual, you have to confess the guilt that you are feeling to the person that you have wronged. Get it out, bring it to light, and remove guilt from your heart. Do not let guilt control your thinking and hold you back. Guilt is so controlling. Confess, address and my friends, move on from guilt. The next emotion I want to talk about is anger. When you are filled with anger, when you have anger living in your heart, you're essentially saying, you owe me, you hurt me, you took something from me. So let me ask you this question. Are you holding on to anger today? Has someone done something to you that has hurt you so deeply and you are so angry that you cannot let it go, that your anger is so consuming that you cannot focus on anything else? Any guess on what the solution for anger is? Well, friends, it's probably not the solution that you want to hear, because sometimes when you're angry about something, you just want to do an eye for an eye. You know, I get that. I understand that feeling. But forgiveness is the remedy for obsessive anger. I want you to remember something. Forgiving someone who has done wrong to you is not letting them off the hook. It's really not. Forgiveness lets you off the hook. Anger is controlling. You have to choose, and you have to choose, and you have a decision to make about staying angry. Most times when you hold on to anger, the person you are mad at, the person that did something wrong to you, really has no idea that you're angry. In fact, your anger doesn't affect them at all. The only person you are hurting is by staying angry is yourself. And you know, friends, when you forgive another person for wronging you, it does not mean that you have to forget. Forgiving doesn't mean you forget. Forgiving means you let it go. They have to live with what they did to you. They have to live with that. You don't have to. You get to decide how much time, how much space in your life that that wrong thing gets to take from you. So, friends, forgiveness truly lets you off the hook. It doesn't let the other person off the hook because they still have the guilt to deal with, Right? All right. The Third emotion that I'm going to talk about is greed. What does it feel like when you're filled with greed? Greed is a I owe me mindset. Gimme self serving, an all for me mentality. We all have someone in our lives or know someone who is filled with greed, who has that all for me and only me mentality. Greed and self serving can come from feeling like you've never had enough in your life, that you always get the short end of the stick. Do you know what I mean? In response to greed, become a generous giver. Simple as that. Concentrate on looking outside of yourself for other people in need. Be a generous giver. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to give monetarily. If money is tight in your family, in your household, just give of your time. It doesn't have to be a financial contribution. Give of your time. Help a neighbor with a task, Mow their lawn, take their trash cans up to the house from the street. When you start looking outside of yourself, you will see so many opportunities to make another person's life a little bit better. Think from a pay it forward mindset. Releasing greed opens up a door of contentment and deep purpose. Make a point to outgive another person. You will never regret becoming a generous giver. I promise you you'll never regret that. Becoming a generous giver. The last emotion I'm going to talk about today is jealousy. If we were to be completely honest, we all have been filled with jealousy at one point or another in our life. So what does jealousy say about us? When you have a jealous heart, we are thinking, life owes me. The world owes me. Someone else got what I think I deserved. Life owes me. Do you remember a time when you were growing up when another person got the starring role of that play that you had auditioned for, or someone else made the cheer squad and you didn't, but you really felt like you deserved it more than they did because you're a good person, right? They're not a good person. How are they rewarded? By getting something that you wanted and they are not a good person. Or maybe someone got the promotion at work and you know you are more qualified. Phew. Yes, I know. We all have been there. But friends, jealousy does not serve you well. Jealousy will never bring a positive outcome. Rather, jealousy is like toxic waste. It will slowly consume you and your spirit will die just a little bit each day. So what do you think is the best remedy for jealousy? Well, in response to jealousy, celebrate other people. Yes, friends, that means taking the high road. If You've been watching the Olympics over the last couple of weeks. You will have witnessed this. You know there are swimmers that didn't necessarily get the gold or do as well as they thought they were going to do. But high witnessed time and time again where these young athletes will go over and congratulate the winning athlete. The athlete that beat them out of the gold medal. That's a big deal. That's huge. That's not being jealous. That is being a good sportsmanship in life is really a good thing. Celebrate other people and write a note to compliment them on the very thing you are jealous of. They that is the remedy for jealousy. To purge jealousy out of your heart. Sound hard? It's really not. Taking the high road may feel a little bit lonely at times, but the high road is always the right road. Releasing the negative mind controlling emotions is so very critical for your own progress, success and growth in this life. So in wrapping this up today, these emotions are red flags. Think about these emotions as being red warning signs. Red flag warning signs to your conscience that we must be alerted to and we must pay attention to them. Be aware the red flags are altering us of danger. Ignore the emotions that the red flags that you have. If you don't ignore those red flags, you will be filled with regret, which is another emotion you don't want weighing down your heart. So friends, at the end of the day, this is very, very true. What comes out of a person's mouth comes from their heart. And above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it. Friends, I hope you make this an incredible week. An incredible day. I know it's Monday. I hope you have an awesome day. I hope you look at this August. It's the first Monday of August. I hope you look at this month as an opportunity to hit the reset button in all areas of your life. Health, wellness, mindset, goals, success. There are so many things that you have going for you and if you just take stock of what's living in your heart right now, today, get rid of those negative emotions, get rid of that negative mindset, friends. You will flourish. Make it a great day, friends and I will talk to you next week.
