Hello, my friends and welcome to this week's episode of A New Life podcast. Thank you so much for being here. I have a great topic today. I'm so excited to share this with you. I think you are going to definitely want to make some changes in your life after this podcast. First of all, I want to share with you a huge announcement. The Women's Leadership Summit, Together we Rise is coming in October to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mark your calendar. This leadership summit is for all women who want to change their life. Business owners, entrepreneurs, stay at home moms, women who are retired. All women are welcome and encouraged to attend this event. You will not want to miss this opportunity to grow yourself in life and in business. You will be inspired, my friends, and together we will rise. I have a keynote speaker coming in and I'm going to keep the identity of this keynote a secret just for now. She is actually someone who is a Tulsa native but living in Nashville and has created this incredible life for herself. And her story will blow you away. So I can't wait to introduce that to you. And we'll do that very, very soon. So today's topic is titled the truth will set you free. And it's not maybe what you think when I say the truth will set you free. It's not about if there's a secret that you're keeping or anything like that. The truth is how you see yourself and how you speak to yourself. That's the truth that we're referring to today. In what areas of your life do you need to take your thoughts captive? Can you identify thoughts that are not serving you? Friends, I want you to get out your journal and I want you to start writing down all the thoughts that you have on a daily basis that do not serve you. When you entertain such thoughts as I am nothing, I have no value, I'm ugly, I am not talented, I am dumb. Ultimately, you don't have power over your emotions of anger, fear, guilt and shame. When you allow yourself to think such thoughts of yourself, who is doing the talking? Are these your words or are they words coming from a past experience? Where are these thoughts coming from? This is a question that I want you to form and write down answers in your journal. It's so important that you document your thoughts on this topic. Negative thoughts, my friends, do not have the last word. You have the power to Control your thoughts. So when you think about the negative thoughts that you process every single day and you identify where the thoughts are coming from, is it childhood trauma, childhood development, something from your parents, your mother, your father, friends, peers, bullies in high school, bullies as an adult? Unfortunately, childhood bullies oftentimes grow up to be adult bullies. They don't really change, they just bully people. On an adult level, is it someone sabotaging you, hurting you at work? Where did these negative thoughts come from? And as I said, you have the power to control your own thoughts. How should you respond to negative self talk? When negative thoughts get into your mind, those thoughts will result in negative answers. I'm sorry, negative actions. Excuse me, when negative thoughts get into your mind, those thoughts will result in negative action. Actions. What you think will dictate what you do. The key to overcoming is to take your thoughts captive. Negative thoughts are a stronghold and are powerful and become entrenched into our minds. And they become a false reality. They become entrenched and stuck in a rut. Think about it this way. When you're driving down a dirt road, yes, I grew up in the country, in Iowa, we had dirt roads. And if anybody else lives in a rural area or grew up there or has visited a rural area, you know exactly what I mean. When you are driving down a dirt road that it has just rained really hard and then the next day the sun came out, you will have significant ruts on those roads that are really difficult to drive in. And the wheels of your car get stuck in this rut. And it takes time, patience, steady hands on the steering wheel for you to slowly steer yourself out of a rut. That's all true. And again, if you grew up in a rural community, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It takes time and patience and a steady hand to steer you out of those ruts. Well, mental ruts are the same. You have bought into the lie. You believe your situation is hopeless. You believe you are a victim of circumstance. You are what your thoughts say you are. You are controlled by fear or shame or guilt or the notion that nothing will ever change and this is the way your life will always be and so on. Is this you? Have you been in this place? Are you in this place right now? Are you struggling with the negative thoughts that have been planted and you have bought into place there by someone else? Once you buy into this thinking, it becomes like a fortress and is so difficult to remove. Your behavior gets worse and you begin to act according to what you believe. You are friends. You must be willing and want this to be different. You have to want it to be different. Because no one is going to tear down this wall of unbelief but you. No one's going to be able to do this for you. Reprogramming your mind and releasing yourself from your own captivity has to happen by you because you control your thought. Your thoughts may be planted by the notion of someone else, but ultimately your thoughts are truly yours. And I want you to keep this in mind. Your life is always moving in the direction of your thoughts. Get out that journal again and start writing down your thoughts. Is your life. Ask yourself this question. Is your life moving in the direction you want it to be? Are you where you hoped you would be? And whatever age you're at, were you thinking that, gosh, by the time I turned 40, I didn't think life would be like this. By the time I turned 50, by the time I turned 30, 20, whatever it is, is your life where you thought it would be? Is it where you thought it would be? Toxic thinking will move your life in a direction you don't want it to go. That's a no brainer. If you are thinking negative, toxic thoughts, that's exactly where your life is going to be. Moving right back in that journal. Where is your life going? Are you going in a direction that you want it to go in? Or is your toxic thinking moving your life in the direction you don't want to go? If you change your thoughts, you will change your life. Period. If you change your thoughts, you will change your life. This is how you unleash your full potential and free yourself to help others rise up together and do the same. If you learn to unleash your full potential, imagine how many people in your world, how many people that you come in contact with every single day that you can help free themselves to do the same thing to reach their full potential. Together we rise, friends. That is the only way is to do this together. In the words of John, chapter 8, verse 32, the truth will set you free. Go after that freedom today. My friends, thank you so much for joining me again this week. I am so excited and happy to have you here.
