Stop Trolling Mid Game 🤬 IN DEPTH Mid-Game Guide

This is a YouTube video titled "Stop Trolling Mid Game 🤬 IN DEPTH Mid-Game Guide" created in July 2025. The content is a detailed instructional guide focused on mid-game strategies in a competitive video game, likely League of Legends. The speaker, identified as Sam, provides an in-depth explanation of mid-game principles such as turret breaking order, item timing, objective control, and quadrant control, illustrated with gameplay examples from challenger-level matches. The video aims to help players improve their mid-game decision-making and map control. There is only one speaker, Sam, and no conversational interaction with others, including no mention of Perry Norman.
How to properly play mid game. A lot of you guys struggle with not knowing if you should be fighting, ganking, you know, doing objectives where you should be. I'm going to go over a game where I'm snowballing and a game where I'm even and I'll show you guys a thought process of what you need to be doing in the mid game. On top of that, I have three super generic but extremely helpful mid game tips that are going to transform your mid game play into something that actually looks really good, really human, and and you understand a bit more about how to win games through mid game. All right guys, let's jump right into it. Our first principle here is the order in which we break turrets. So the first things first is you want to break these outer turrets on the side lanes first. These turrets are the easiest to break and they're always going to give you very high value for your side laners. The next turret we want to break is going to be either this mid turret or or these inner turrets. The reason why these have the same value is because this is worth more gold. But this turret is worth more map pressure. So the map pressure from the mid turret is great, but the gold from the side turret is also great. It just depends on the situation of the game. And then this turret is really nice to have too, but it's very low priority. If you have the choice between this turret and this turret, generally speaking, you should take this turret because it's worth more gold. Let's say you're playing an assassin like Evelyn Kayn, maybe Zed, maybe Talon, then this mid turret is really good to break because you can always kill their ADC and support. But generally speaking, guys go in this order on how you want to break turrets. So for example, if this turret is dead, but you can either break this turret or this turret or you can choose to play for something. The map is not free you. You have to choose something. Do not try and play for this mid turret. It's going to be very difficult, very hard to play for this. You want to try to play for the side turret. Okay, that's the thought process you guys need to have. The second mid game principle I want you guys to understand is that mid game starts when you complete your first item and you must use your item for an objective. Here's the problem, guys. People think mid game starts when the first turret breaks. It's too late. By then you're already messing things up. By then. The moment you have your item, you can start playing aggressively. You can start doing active things on the map. Get plates, get quadrant control, get dragons, get all of the above. Generally speaking, anywhere from nine, maybe even eight to like 14 minutes, you get your item. 14 is very late, 13 is very late, nine to 12 is a general like good range. If you get it later, you gotta step it up. The next big thing is the objectives. Guys, you need to be playing around objectives, okay? A lot of people use their item to, to fight 1v1 and try to win a fight, try to kill someone, try to win a cap. You need to play around objectives. There's no cheat code to the mid game play around objectives. A lot of people think that like they can skip steps and skip it all. Play around the objective. Our third minigame principle here is going to be quadrant control is actually an objective and this one is not really talked about too frequently. But guys, this is so important. If we are, let's say, let's say we're the blue side here. If we are trying to look to do something, there's. But there's no herald, there's no dragon, no otacon, nothing is up. Guys, do we just sit in our jungle and do nothing? Like this is what a lot of people don't understand is like oh, I don't know what to do Perry. Oh my goodness. This is an objective. This is an objective. You want to have a pink ward here, you want to have your presence here, you want to have your control established. So I will show you guys examples of what I mean by having quadrant control. But this is the key thing a lot of people are missing. Now are there more mid game principles like synchronizing to waves, like playing for chunks like you know, farm something at all times, having resources or never die in fights and trade? Yes, all of these things are very, very important. If you're looking for more information about concepts like this, guys, I have the jungle kingdom just for that so you can ask more questions. I get into more into depth with those things. But for the most part these will carry you in the mid game. I promise you these will be enough for you guys to absolutely not in your games. And anyway, let's jump right into the actual gameplay now. Alright, so we're playing in a challenger level game. I just recalled and completed my item. I'm clearing from bot lane to top lane. And right now we have no camps up on the map and there are no objectives on the map. And what did we just discuss that we need to be doing? Guys, we are looking for quadrant control. So the Moment we deploy at a base, we are running straight through the mid lane and straight into the river and then potentially the enemy jungle. So we have quadrant control this information. What camps are up, what's going on here? Maybe there's wards is crucial to help my teammates play the game. So that's all I'm looking for here. Now, what this translates into is that Pantheon wants to force to play mid lane. Because Pantheon forces to play mid lane, it gives me an angle on the Taliyah. Now, one key thing I know here is Taliyah has no Flash. I'm constantly tracking who has Flash or not. It's a very important piece of information that you always want to look at. And here, guys, what do I do? I play a normal game of League after this. I have no ultimate. I'm not going to force a fight anywhere. I'm going to naturally clear bot lane to top lane. So we'll see a very, very, very slow. The top side it is. Okay, A big part about the mid game is you want to get all your resources at this point. Our ultimate is coming up. One thing I noticed here, guys, is that the ivern pinged Vladimir Flash. I'm in the top side. My ultimate's coming up soon, and I know that Vladimir has no Flash. Another key thing to understand is I'm looking at the map, so I know Pantheon's bot side. My Neeko got very nice wards here. So I see Pantheon down here. And where's Pantheon pathing towards? Pantheon's pathing downward. Okay? So we know Pantheon will not be in the top side, and he has no ultimate because of this mid play. So I'm going straight into the top side. Now, my goal is not to kill Vladimir. My goal is to push the Vladimir out, look for potential camps, and look for this turret. If I can get a kill. Great, so let's see what happens here. I push the Vladimir out, okay? And I end up using my ultimate because Vladimir has no pool, and we get a nice free kill. Now we turn this kill into an entire turret. I immediately recall after, because we are sitting on heaps of gold. 2k gold. And I want to try and defend bot side. Bot lane is about to get dope here, okay? So. But the thing is, the bot lane, there is no wave. Look at where this wave is. Okay, how do I know that they have that the wave is fine. Look back here, they are currently pushing one wave in, okay? And the Neeko is clearing the wave with the Caitlyn. And look at that. We've cleared the wave successfully. We defended and we cleared the wave. So the next wave they're going to play on is this wave. Real quick, guys, if you've been enjoying this video so far, comment quadrant control is king down below in the comments, so I know to make more content like this. Anyway, guys, let's jump back to the video. So instead of me searching for camps, whether they're up or not, I need to recall. Because if I don't recall, we're gonna lose the sponsor. We're gonna lose everything. My kog' ma can't play the game. No one can play the game. So I recall immediately and I run down as fast as I possibly can. And this allows my kog' maw to actually not die here. Even if he dies here, doesn't actually mean the end of the world because I'm gonna get a kill. I'm gonna get a double kill, and that's also gonna transform into a dragon for me. But here's the thing, guys. I still have no ultimate. So I'm gonna play a very basic game, which is his objective, and declare bot lane to top lane. Look at this. Bot lane's fighting, Bot lane's low, this and that. Like, oh, do I. Do I gank here? Do I fight here? Listen, man, I have no ultimate. I am either going to do my camps or I'm going to wait and put myself in position when I have ultimate to play the game. Here's what the. Here's the thing. What I, What I do decide to do here is cross through mid lane to play for the next objective. By the time I cross from bot lane to top lane, my ultimate will be up. Now, the error I make here is instead of just doing the. The camps, the. The crab here, the. The top crab, and the herald, I end up chasing a little bit of a kill here. Okay? Ultimately, this doesn't change the game too much. What happened though, is my Niko died. As you can see, Nico's dead. And my Caitlyn dies here, too. And then we lose the mid turret. Very bad for us. And the bots are very bad for us. While this is happening, though, I took his grump, I took his wolves, and I take the crap. I am getting resources, even though I made a blunder. And it's okay, it's okay to things up as long as you're getting something, as long as the up isn't you dying. And you want to know what happens to people in the mid game is they'll go after this dragon and they'll Go and fight bot lane. And they'll try to dive, they'll try to gank, try to do something they'll get Pantheon ulted on. They try to gang, they get Pantheon ulted, they die. They get zero resources. They still lose the tourists. And then the game is absolutely disastrous. At least here, with my blunder, I'm getting some resources, okay? So I end up getting camps, and I end up getting Herald anyway. Cool. The next thing I'm looking at here is I'm 200 gold off my item. So I'm gonna farm my Raptors and I'm gonna farm my cruds. This means, okay, we're in a position where what the hell do we do? Because right now, my most fed teammate is top side. Can't really be around him because I have my bot camps up my Kongma's mid, my Caitlyn's mid. Okay, my Neeko's dead again. Wow. What can I play for on the map? What should I be playing for on the map? Well, here's the thing, guys. We talked about breaking turret theory. We have one. One, two, two, and two. I am playing for this turret. It's perfect. I have bought camps and I can play down here. Let me teach you guys something that's very important. Wave synchronization here. So right now I'm on this wave, okay? I'm. I'm perfectly on this wave. But the problem with this, if I play on this wave here is that they have this mid wave, and my Neeko is literally not playing the game right now because she died. So I could play on this wave. And. But their teammates can come from here all the way down and screw me up. So what I'm. What I'm doing is I'm sort of being a little bit safe, and I'm farming camps here. Objectively, could I go and take the gamble and try this? Yes, because my top winner is about to get fucked for this. But it's also solo queue, so at least I'm getting resources. Now what I'm looking at is this wave. I am putting myself in a position where when this wave hits the turret, I. I will break the turrets. Now I end up going forward and killing this taliyah cuz Thaliya disrespected me. If someone's going to disrespect you, take the kill. But now I'm in a position where I have this wave with me. Let's say, for example, guys, I'm doing my camp here, and I want to break this turret this Blue buff is up and the crab is up. Just picture that. Okay? Blue buff is up, crab is up. If I do the blue buff right now, I will not have enough time to prepare myself ahead of this wave. So I must skip the buff, skip the crab, and go now to look for pressure and positioning before the wave even hits the midpoint of the lane. So I'm going before the wave hits. A lot of people think they can do after the wave hits, and that is a complete error. Okay, so I'm going before the wave, and here we are getting kills. And now we're going to use our herald and translate that into a turret and translate down to another turret. My goal here was a turret, but at the same time, I want to do these camps. And I'm looking for quadrant control, guys. Quadrant control. Because I'm looking for these things, I end up unlocking two turrets for ourselves. I get the bot, tier 1, bot here 2. And now what I do is I look mid lane. Mid lane's fighting. Cool. My Kogma died and my Nico died. I have no ultimates and I'm looking for a little fight cuz I'm like, oh, wait, look at this guy's hp. My ivern's with me. I might be able to kill this guy. Full HP shield. I do not kill myself. I flash immediately. Do I? Do I flash? Look. Look at how silly this is. I'm full hp, right? Look at this. I'm full hp. Nope, nope, nope. I don't want to risk it. I don't want to risk Pantheon maybe having Flash, Flash, flash W on me with with combo that with karma. W. I'm not risking. I'm just flashing living. And then I can go do anything I can. I can recall here. I can go to my top side. I can literally just live. What you guys don't do is play to live. And now, although I'm fed, this looks like a lot of your games. Six, zero. Extremely fed. But the scoreboard is even. So what do I do that ends up winning me this game? I'll show you guys. I farm a bit here. Keep farming, Keep farming, keep farming. Okay, I look to recall, spend gold. 1.5k gold. I don't stay on the map. I recall we're dying. We're getting killed. Doesn't matter to me. I need to recall and I need to spend gold. What I am doing is I'm communicating. Danger ping. Danger ping. Danger ping. And then because Caitlyn is dead, one of my carries, two of my carries are mid lane. No one spotlane. I decide to go for the empty lane. Now I want to talk about this theory really quickly. Call it the empty lane theory. Okay, there's three. There's three carries in a game. Okay, we have top lane, mid Lane and ADC. There's three lanes, 1, 2 and 3. If someone is dead, there will always be an empty lane. You can find an empty lane and always push it most of the time because someone's dead. Someone needs to cover for that. Okay, if two of your carries are in the same lane like this, there's also going to be an empty lane. Right now we have two empty lanes, top lane and bot lane down here. So I'm going to cover for one of the lanes and this is going to pressure them. Dragons coming up in 11 seconds here. Otacon is currently up. If they see me pushing top lane in, they're gonna freak out here and be like, oh my God, we have to stop them from doing the otacon. So watch what happens. Macro wise here I go, top lane, I push the wave, I push this next wave in. And then they start freaking out over the map here. So the furious is fogging into the top side like this. And I'm aware they have Pantheon ultimate, so I'm stopping them from pressuring this dragon. Now my Nico challenger player, try a pro player as well. Like just absolutely trolling the game. I don't know what's go what's wrong with him. He ends up just dying here for fun. He just does the objective. I try pinging him, doesn't listen to me. It's fine, he dies. But what's happened here, guys, is my teammate died by Caitlyn, but they're the ones chasing after me. I'm not chasing after them, they're chasing after me. I have control over the game. I'm first, they're second. What some of you guys would do is like recall here, go to the dragon, try to fight the dragon, a dead teammate and then just lose the game cuz you're chasing after them, try to get them to chase after you. So I push this wave in, Nico kills himself. So we have another dead teammate. Oh boy. And then Ivern does the exact same thing here. Ivern also kills himself. Oh boy. So what I do is I'm like, okay, maybe I can chunk someone look for anything. Nope, can't do anything. I'm not going to die w away. I'm going to get clear camps. I clear my camps, get resources clear, clear, clear to clear. And here's where the game, the pivot really, really, really comes in. So what I'm looking for right now is control with my teammates. I'm not clearing camps back here. I'm controlling the crabs. If you don't know what to do in the mid game, at least do your best to get the crabs. The crabs are really broken to get. So we're getting this crab here and then what I'm doing is I'm sitting in a bush for control. If someone wants to come face check, they will get jumped by me. I ended up getting spotted by describers. That's fine. Okay, that's fine, that's fine, that's fine. We're walking back. We're walking back. We're walking back now look, they have to walk into our vision and I'm not leaving. Okay, here's the thing. Some of you guys get this control very well. Good job. Some of you guys do this. But then you go to do the camp. No, we need to stay here. And as they control and try to retake our control, we can potentially look for a fight. I have all my conditions ready. I'm very strong here. Going serpent's fang as well. So I know I have bonus damage. So look at what I do here. The Ophelia is walking up disrespectfully. I'm gonna full combo him here. Absolutely. One shot him and instead of going forward, I walk backward. I take the free pick and then look, I don't force the otacon. I am instead I look to go for this mid turret. I play off this mid wave and we break this mid turret. While I'm looking for this mid turret, I have no ultimate so I'm playing slow. There's a massive fight going on. This is pure mechanics. I E. I kill the Vladimir, I kill this Vladimir again before he gets out of his thing. I have Ivern with me. I'm defending Ivern with my Life. I'm just 1v9ing them here. There's nothing that they can really do. After we kill them all, we end up going for the oticon otacon. How do we close the game from here? This position on, I have my serpent spaying. I'm really, I'm almost at full build. Okay, we farm some camps. We're really close to level 16. Okay, I'm going to farm for a bit here, cuz I want to play for the Baron. I don't want to sit down here in the bot side. Wrong side. I'm playing for the objective. What do I do here guys? I Don't farm my camps, I go for the crab. The crabs are like game winning, stupid. Vladimir is going for the crab. I'm fighting the Vladimir now. I know my teammates are around. I am 3 items and 3 and a half items. I'm not afk farming my camps. Okay, here's the thing. In the mid game, guys, you need control over quadrants, you need control over terrain to win the game. So now I'm fighting this Vladimir and then look what I'm able to do, okay? I'm able to fight, fight, fight with my ivern. Nico's able to get a massive engage. We end up killing the vitamin ran it Pantheon, we get the Baron. Okay, after we get the Baron, we recall right away. We go straight to a lane. We don't do camps, right, so it's like a lot of you guys are camp hungry fiends, which is good. I've taught you guys well, you should be camp hungry in the early game. In the mid game, late game, when you're strong, when you're disfed, look for control over the map. So what I do is I'm not going to push this wave because I don't want to reveal myself, but look at what I'm doing, look at me because I have full control over the map right here. And then what this allows me to do is it allows me to get this like nice little potential kill on this guy. At least the chunk on him my teammates are fighting. Okay, that's fine. This chunk allows me to get this drag that I pushed the guy out so far. We got this, cool. Now I'm staying with my teammates. I'm not going back to my camps, I'm doing their camps. I'm completely it. I'm controlling their side of the map. Because we have quadrant control, we're able to hold a really disgusting angle like this. I go forward, I use my flash, I full combo. I know the limits of my champion. I end up getting this nice free kill the Pantheon ults in and then from this point on, we win the game. Quadrant control is key to winning games. Hopefully. You guys got to see a game state where we're really even and how we can accelerate and win the game. I'm going to very quickly go over a game where we're snowballing. Alright, we have another challenger game here where I just completed my first item. I'm clearing top to bot lane here. Let's see what happens, how we can snowball the game further. My Lucian is 4:1 and 2, so he's very, very fed. I'm going to go straight to my top camps. I'm going to clear top down naturally. Here's the thing. They're trying to dive my teammate here. I look for maybe a prevention potential little kill here. Okay. We end up getting canceled. We chase this little echo here. We keep chasing, we keep chasing, we keep chasing. We can't really go too far forward here. That's it is what it is at the end of the day. Okay. So I lose my ULT for really realistically nothing. Now I do know they expended a lot of their resources and their ultimates as well on the top side because my mid laner or my ADC is so strong. Who's in the mid lane right now? I have lane prior here, priority here. We're gonna go for the objective. So you'll see here when I'm playing the mid game and I'm snowballing, I am always playing around the thrills objectives. Okay. So from here I do camps. I look to recall I spend 800 gold. Why? Because the Herald's coming up. So I spend that gold, I get my boots and I'm in the top state right now. I clear some camps and right now what I'm doing, guess what guys, I'm looking for that quadrant control. When you're snowballing games you need quadrant control. So now I'm in a position where I have that quadrant control and look at what I do. I end up chunking this guy. Almost killing him. Okay. And now he's half hp. I'm looking for a little bit more. Can't get it. It's fine. While I'm doing this, I'm sending people to where I am. So we're allowed to do whatever we want in the mid lane as well. And here I don't know what this guy's doing. I end up. We end up killing this guy for fun. And then here we're playing more on the Aatrox open position and we're playing around the Herald. Alright, after this herald here guys what I'm going to do is I'm going to look to full clear and then spend my gold. Okay. As I'm looking for my camps and full clearing, there's a development in what happens then. Aatrox is pushing Bawe. So I'm doing my Krugs here to synchronize my camps nicely. And as I'm doing this, I use my smite. Why do I use my smite here? It's so important to understand. Aatrox has an objective. He wants to clear this wave. I need to clear my gr. My Krugs asap. Because the faster I clear my Krugs, the faster I can go balling and make this play. It's even if you can even say skip the Krugs and just go straight to Ballin for the kill. But I know I have enough time. And I know this Aatrox will fight for this. Wait. So I one shot the Krugs. And I don't do red buff. I don't recall. I don't mindlessly do nothing. I see there's two people mid lane. Syndra's top lane. Lulu's probably with them. And I look for this nice free pick here. So we end up getting a nice little pick here. And chasing and chasing and chasing. And look at this. Why I'm able to do this. Look at how strong my Galio is. Super powerful Galio. Galio into Aatrox. On top of that, I'm playing Volibear. We're very op champions into theirs. So we end up killing the Aatrox. We end up killing the echo. And then we are just in a really good position. I recall immediately to get my conditions for this dragon. And guess what guys? When you're snowballing, it's very, very, very easy. Play around objectives. Summon Herald while I'm doing the objective to get the turrets. We look for vision. Vision control. With this wave, we get a teammate to teleport in. And then we just finish. Okay, there's a nice little fight here. Nice little skirmish. There's not too much happening here. But what we are playing for, guys, is not afking around objectives or on our camps. We're playing for terrain control. Quadrant control. So we're fighting. We're fighting. We're fighting. We're getting enemies low. And what are we doing here? We're five man together. Looking for control. Looking for control. Looking for control. And then look. Syndra has no spells. Ekko has no spells. Even the Aatrox use spells. So Niko is able to sneak in. We Ulti in and we wipe them. And when you're snowballing, you can do shit like this because you're strong. Now we break this turret. We recall and we go for the top side. This top tier is ours. We farm our camps really quickly. Teammates don't need me to break this turret. What do I do after I'm looking for otacon, I immediately pull the otacon. From this point on, when we're this strong, looking at our Lucian three Items to barely even one and a half. You want to force every objective to get them to come to fight. We force this here. We fight the Echo. Echo is now dead. Great. And then we want to play for this. For this turret. Guys. How do I play for this? How do I do it? What do I do? Watch. We're playing for terrain control. And then we're playing to chunk the enemy out combo here. Boom boom, boom, boom boom. And then I don't care if I kill this guy or not. My goal. Get his spells, push him out, then go for this turret. But because they're disrespecting me so hard and disrespecting Niko so hard, Nico gets an easy combo. And then we just kill them all. Push a little bit more, run away a bit of. Bit of. Like they're just trolling when they over extend into your. Into you guys. You can always just take. Take as many freebies as possible. I'm overextending here. I'm having too good of a time. There's no real objective up right now. So it's like not the end of the world to die here. But those. Those plays like this. What I just did can lose games. Like, my bad. I just gave him how much gold? Like 1k gold. Yeah, I just gave the nylon 1k gold. Don't do what I just did there. Okay. But even me on a challenger game and I'm trying to play the best possibly can. I still make mistakes. Like we're all human at the end of the day. I do my red buff really quickly and then I do the objective and then look, I'm looking for like. Oh, that's not even me, bro. Where the am I? Oh, here we are. I'm already looking for a terrain control. Like already I'm like literally chasing this guy. Holy. I've been looking for terrain control. Haha. Yeah. And we turn this into mid fight. The game is one. Overall, what I need you guys to understand is Quadrant control is king when you play for quadrants. When you play for that control, the game unlocks itself. Now you can't just play for quadrants when your teammates aren't ready. So although quadrant control is king, here's the catch. I made plays when my teammates had conditions. You guys cannot make plays if your teammates aren't ready. Quadrant control only matters if your teammates are ready to play the game with you. Let's say I look for the quadrant, but my teammate has no ultimate. My teammate has no flash. My teammate has no HP or mana. It doesn't matter if I own the quadrant, it literally does not matter. That's what I need you guys to understand. Information gathering is probably the most important thing. If there's one takeaway, it's not quadrant controls King, it's not the order of turrets, it's not the mid game stuff, it's not objective stuff, it's you are probably lacking information, so all your decisions are going to be worse. But hopefully this video will help you guys transform your mid game gameplay. I hope you guys enjoy this video. If you did, please do let me know because this at least tells me you guys do like this type of content and I should do more of it. Anyway, guys, I hope to see you in the Jungle Kingdom and please leave a like comment and subscribe. I'll see you guys next time. Sam.
