Why You SUCK At Jungle Invades (And How To FIX IT)

In this instructional League of Legends gameplay video, Perry Norman explains why most players fail at jungle invades and demonstrates a systematic, condition‑based approach to executing successful invades. He emphasizes the importance of never invading blind, instead using real‑time information about the enemy jungler’s location, lane states, camp respawn timers, and champion‑specific tools such as Graves’ Grit stacks and Smite advantage. Throughout a live game, Perry narrates his decision‑making process: identifying safe windows, prioritizing objectives (camps, dragon, Baron), coordinating with laners via pings, and adapting to changing conditions with recalls and re‑invades. He showcases how to deny enemy resources, capitalize on small leads, and transition from pure invading to broader map control and team fighting. The video concludes with a coaching call‑to‑action for his Jungle Kingdom program.

Invading can be one of the hardest things to do, and generally people are awful at invading. The problem is people tend to invade blind. They have no idea what's going on. They have no idea why they're invading or even how to invade. Players who climb only invade when they already know where the enemy jungler is and how, like, how the map should look like based off of what the enemy jungler is doing. Okay, so in this game, what you're going to see me do is properly look to invade the enemy jungler based off of good condition. So So I'm going to be able to find free camps, free kills. Again, I'm basing it off of the enemy jungler's conditions, where the enemy jungler is, and my laners. So throughout this game, guys, if I don't have the right info to go for an invade, I won't invade. In this game here, I have a sixth sense, so I'm walking into his jungle all willy-nilly. I'm very confident here that if the enemy jungler is on his Gromp, which he is, I will absolutely destroy him here. Let's push him out here, try to get a Dark Harvest stack. Bang! And now we can invade his top camps here as well. And that's how you do a proper level 2 invade against the enemy jungler. He should not be able to contest me whatsoever here. And the reason why we're confident we can do this is because we have a smite advantage over him. So there's nothing he can do to us. And we're also getting our grit stacks as we're playing a Graves here. So grit stacks makes us really impenetrable to like losing fights essentially. Now what we're going to do is we're going to walk to to the bot side and defend our bot camps nice and easily. And we've started off with a nice strong early invade, guys. So I know he should be in the bot side. Based off of that, what I want to do is I want to consider that maybe he invades my top camps. That's his kind of only option here, is maybe he invades my top camps. Okay, and I don't— I doubt he will. He's probably just gonna be in the bot side. He's gonna try to gank bot lane. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna ping bot lane a little bit here. Ping ping. And our top laner is dead, so what we're going to apply here is the basic principle of never play with your weak laners and ignore our top lane. Okay, so he's already dead, so play away from the Garen. That's just usually how Garen players do it, they just die. Um, so we want to stay away from this guy and play through the bot side because bot side's winning trades, and maybe through the top side as well, or maybe through the mid— my mid laner. Okay, now we want to try to one-shot this crab here. I'm gonna bring this out. To keep my grit stacks for as long as humanly possible. My Lulu just got hooked, and my Garen just checked the red buff for me, actually, which is very good information. And I'm going to try to keep my grit stacks going into the top side here. The Garen actually just got perfect info for me, which is fucking awesome. What I'm going to do here now is I'm going to maintain my grit stacks, E here, and I'm just going to farm all my camps. And because we have a losing top laner, I'm not going to look to re-invade into his top side at all. What I'm going to do is I'm going to look for a full clear, and I'll look to invade his bot camps. So his bot camps could potentially be invadable. I might need to take a little bit of extra time to clear my camps. Okay, this ward here. The Viego's here. I have 8 crit stacks. You cannot fuck with me here at all. Again, I have 8 crit stacks plus a potion. I might flash here. Again, 8 crit stacks. What are you going to do to me, bro? Bang! And I'm fully confident I can win this fight here because of my crit stacks. Maybe my Vladimir could win, it might be a little bit hard, but at the very least we got 2 kills for ourselves, which is a straight-up dirk and boots and a long sword. And although we're not going to be able to do too much after this position, we are at least able to get ourselves 2 kills. And now we can do is we can full clear down towards the bot side And we don't want to necessarily invade right away because their Ekko has control over my mid laner. So I'm going to look to farm my camps first, and then we're going to try to invade his bot camps. Alternatively, what we could do is maybe re-invade top lane. Let's just go ahead and farm my camps first. What I mean by re-invade top lane is my top camps are going to be cleared similar time to when the Viego's camps are being cleared here. Okay, so my top camps are probably going to be, um, gone here. So 2 minutes. So in 2 minutes, maybe we can go top lane. And invade the Viego's top camps. In reality, are we able to invade much on the map here? Probably not. So what we're going to do is we're going to stick to our camps because right now there's nothing to invade. The Graves is— uh, the Viego's clearing top side all the way down, and now he's going to clear towards his, uh, bot side, and his Thresh and everyone is there. So instead of looking to kill enemy bot camps, what we can do is we can look to deny the crab and deny resources in the bot side. That's probably going to be our next best bet. Instead of playing for invade, we play for the bot crab, which is going to give us a lot of security. Let's make sure we get this Gromp at 5:30 so we can level up our Smite here. Uh, pretty much you get an extra biscuit stack. There it is, bonus treats. Now we can level this up, and then boom, if the enemy jungler does come, we have leveled up Smite. We can easily look for this, um, what's it called, we can easily look for this crab. Enemy jungler spotted there, he can't do shit. I have leveled up Smite. I want to ping my Lulu to come on the way here, and this crab should be mine. Okay, now again, his top camps are the ones that are up, but what we have to consider here is that invading his top camps are hard when my top laner's conditions look this freaking awful. So instead of looking to invade his top camps, what we can do here is look to just grab the dragon and play kind of a structured game, and we're going to wait for the invade opportunity to come later. Okay, there's no good info, there's no good conditions, then there's no invade that's possible for us to make. So we're not going to do shit. We're just going to play nice and cautiously. But guys, remember, my Krugs should respawn when his Raptors— or when his Gromp should respawn. So if I really wanted to invade, I could invade when my Krugs are up. Then again, it might be a little hard to do that because look at top lane's conditions. So instead of looking to do that, we can probably just go ahead and play for the bot side here and go ahead and try to invade his bot camps. So Krugs are going to be up and then the Raptors will be up, or my Raptors will be up, and kind of like 20 seconds after, I believe his Raptor camp should be up as well. So we can look for an invade here. We can see when it's coming up, should come up soon. His red buff could also be up here. Soon. Kind of investigating. Yeah, it's coming up in 10 seconds now. So we know that his bot side camps are up, and then also depending on bot conditions, we could also potentially dive them down there as well. So if my bot lane keeps getting good trades, we can definitely look for a bot fight, a bot dive. But for now, let's look for an invade on his red buff. And this is all just done by proper jungle tracking, right? I can— on the way ping here again. And now what we're going to do here is come down Chuck our ulti out, get this kill here, tap my Smoke Screen and get double kill there. And now what we're going to do is I'm still generally stronger than this, uh, Viego, so I'm going to look to invade his Krug camp. He's probably on his Raptors coming down. There he is. Yo, what's up? Let's focus on him here. We win the Smite, we should be fine. My Lulu is on the way, so I'm not too scared. And again, I'm generally stronger than him. Look at my items, look at his. So we take another kill like that. His top camps were cleared a while back. So let's think here. Can we potentially re-invade his top camps? And the answer is, yeah, we could. But their fucking Irelia is god. She's going to come out of base and she's going to fuck my shit up. So I cannot play with my top laner whatsoever. Instead, what I'm going to do is I'm going to keep trying to re-invade his bot side. Okay, so all I want to do is play towards bot lane and say, fuck the Garen. He's typing like a storm right now as well. Fuck the Garen. We play to re-invade his bot side. So I'm going to clear all my top camps. I kind of cleared the wrong order here. I should have cleared Krugs first, but I'm going to clear my top camps and I'm going to look to invade his bot side. Look at my strength. Look at my bot lane strength as well. Look at everyone's strength in the bot side. It's very clear that we can just re-invade his Raptors again. I cleared Krugs after he cleared his Raptors, so that means his Raptors are probably going to respawn in around a minute. So that means I have a minute's time to kind of just do whatever and fuck around and find out. And in this minute time, what I'm going to do then is I'm going to clear all of my camps and then I'm going to go invade his camps afterwards. So let's farm everything here. Let's farm everything we got. And then we're going to go invade his Raptor camp afterwards. I'm going to do a little bit of double camping here, right? So the faster you are clearing, the better. Because I know Graves limits, I know how fast my champion can clear. I'm going to go ahead and just be really efficient. And again, I have 30 seconds left until I can invade his Raptor camp. So we're going to grab everything here, and what would be a perfect world is if I can keep my grid stacks on this invade. If I can keep these, I'm the GOAT. But it might not be possible given that the, the, the crab is dead here already. Um, maybe I can come towards mid lane. Can get the at least. And the Viego is there again. His Raptor camp should be respawning. 2, 1. He's getting my red buff, but I'm gonna get his bot side camps, and I'm gonna be able to dive him again. Uh, dive their bot lane at least. We also got a nice Dark Harvest stack, which is really good for us. So their bot lane is extremely fucking low here. He's running for his fucking life, pussy. And now look at what my bot lane is able to do from all this pressure here. They're able to break that entire turret. And now what we want to do is we want to recall and go towards the top side instead of staying bot lane because there's no camps for me to invade. What I want to do now is look to go to the top side and play for my top respawn camps. Let's try to get vision of that there. And I want to run straight there from base to defend my Raptor camp. Now, my Raptor camp might get one-shot because the Senna canceled me, unfortunately. But if my Vladimir wins— I think he's winning. Oh, I don't know. I don't fucking know. Maybe he is. And now what we can do is the exact same thing that I was talking about earlier, guys. We see that his bot camps are respawning. We see this Dragon as well. I mean, my Caitlyn is in the top side and I kind of want to play towards the Caitlyn, so we can go towards top side here. Yeah, I got her flash, which is very good, because if I can go long here, I might be able to kill her. She has to keep running. If she doesn't keep running, she's fucking dead. Beautiful. And now what we can do is his top camps will respawn soon. We don't necessarily want to give him the dragon. I mean, I have no teammates up here on the dragon and my Caitlyn is in the top side. So instead, let's just fucking do the blue buff. The blue buff is just guaranteed here. His top camps will respawn so we can invade his top camps here nicely, right? And all of it's based off of jungle tracking. Now this Vladimir is fucking mental. And now we want to defend our bot camps. So instead of staying on the map here, what I'm going to do is I'm going to recall and then go towards the bot side. And the only catch here— nah, nah, this guy is fucking god, bro. Just leave it, leave it. What we want to do here is we want to go towards the bot side, defend the bot camps, maybe even invade his bot camps. I highly doubt the invade is going to be too good given my Garen is like 0-5. My Lulu needs to go towards the top lane very badly here. I want to try to find this Viego if he's here. Hello. There he is. And we chunked him out very low there, right? So what that means for us is I'm going to one-shot this crab, guarantee the crab first, and then I'm going to invade his bot camps afterwards. I'm going to dodge vision here as well. And like I said, guys, that's why the recall was so important there. If I don't recall, I don't get to invade his camps here. That's fine. I kind of fucked up a little bit there by not getting my condition— by not hovering the wall properly. But we end up killing him, or we end up pushing him away. Okay, what we're going to do after is get our Krugs— get our Krugs— get his Krugs, and then go towards the top side and defend our Raptor camp as well. And we're going to keep bleeding this guy out slow and steadily, right? I'm up 3 levels from invades based off of information in the early game. You guys saw that there weren't many invades for us to play for, but we use jungle tracking to try to find a few invades here and there. And we're constantly recalling, spending gold so that we can defend our camps after the invades happen. Okay, we're gonna grab our Raptor camp, and then we're gonna go for our Krugs, and we can try to re-invade his top camps. But given that the Irelia is god, again, fighting where the Irelia is is not ideal, but fighting where my bot lane is is very ideal. So what we can do here is ping, ping again, and say, yo, if you guys wanna fight here, I'm so fucking down. If you guys want to look for anything, I'm extremely down. If I can jump this, this guy here too. Flash auto. Okay, Caitlyn fucking int. Now I have to be relatively careful here from the Irelia. So my Lulu spotted Irelia. What I'm going to do here is I'm going to try to one-shot this on the way up, and I have a big smite here, so even if Irelia comes I will just fucking one-shot this thing. I'm trying to— I'm trying to go over here, and then we're just going to walk on out. And we've invaded this guy's entire topside just like that. So my goal isn't necessarily to kill the Viego there. My goal is to chunk him out. And by chunking him out, I'm allowing myself to get in a perfect position where I can invade his camps. And then we know Irelia wasn't chasing me there. Irelia was like, question mark, question mark, not showing. That means she's trying to kill me. She's trying to go long and kill me. So we go ahead and we dodge the Irelia. Now his bot camps are respawning. The Raptors are a little bit hard to play for in general, uh, because his bot lane is defending. But his Krugs are going to come up in 20 seconds, and those Krugs look really juicy. So we can play for those Krugs very nicely. This crab is guaranteed mine. Okay, let's go. On the way, ping Vladimir. Let him know that if he keeps fighting, it's good. And we're going to jump this Graves— uh, jump this Viego here. Let's E-smite it. You take this guy's— like, take this guy a bit too. Looks like nothing. Let's go ahead and recall and let's go towards the top side. I mean, this Irelia could pressure us a little bit here. Irelia is very strong. I want to recall. I want to go to my top camps, want to defend those, maybe re-invade the wolves and the Gromp. But as long as we're playing around where the enemy Viego is We will constantly threaten his camps. We've generated a natural 4-level lead and we're 12 CS per minute again based off of information from the game. Now his top camps are respawning here. We have full Ekko location. Get it? Because of Ekko in this game as well of where his top camps are, when his top camps are respawning. We know we are very strong compared to him and the Ekko in general is not too fed. So we can definitely look for a nice invade on his top camps here. So let's look for all of my top camps first, and then we want to go into his topside camps and we want to look for everything in the topside there. So even if this Viego gets all these kills here in the mid lane, I'm not going to chase here. I'm actually just going to do the really fucking annoying thing and invade his entire topside. And this Viego is not going to be able to do like jack shit about it at all. We're going to try to keep Brit stacks if we can. It's fine if not. When this Viego goes for the blue buff, I will look here. Now I have to be relatively careful of the Ekko. Watch this here. The Viego is like raging, trying to get his camps defended, and we're able to still invade his entire topside. And what we're going to do now is because the Viego is dead, we're going to invade his entire botside as well. So we're just like full vegan this game. Let's go invade his bot camps. And then with this happening, this Irelia getting chased, I could— I could— oh, Caitlyn's fucking dead. Okay, that doesn't look so good. Let's ignore that shit. I'm going to get his camp here. Now what we can do is play for the dragon. Lulu just stays with me, it's fine. Caitlyn's losing her fucking mind, bro. Fuck you, I wanted to invade this Viego. I'm staying true to what I wanted to play for, guys, which is just pure invades, pure invades and pressure on the map. I'm staying true to what I want to play around. Okay, be pretty scared of this Ekko here. Okay, we have to be relatively scared of the Ekko. Reinvading now, the, the, the conditions don't seem too good for it. I mean, I could try to get this Herald now. We have a little bit of time. Okay, and I can't auto. I couldn't cast my ulti there, so that's a huge shutdown for the enemies as well. I mean, my entire team comp is like— my entire team is like fucking useless, but that's fine. Like, we are still going to make this game like winnable. We have a really fed Caitlyn. I think their Thresh just lost their mind too. Senna Cait autos, nice. So we have a winning Caitlyn. I need to play fights a little bit better if I want to win this game. But at the very least, you guys see I have so much gold this game that we should be still very fine in this game overall. We need some armor, or we, we also were sitting on like— how much gold there, guys? 3K gold. So that makes the fight extremely hard relative to what it could have been. My Garen and Vladimir end up killing that guy. We are still up 5 levels on that Viego. At this point in the game, we should probably tone it down on how much we're trying to invade. And play a little more tactical to killing the enemies. But hopefully you guys got a good display of what it looks like to properly invade the enemy. Okay, I'm looking for small camp advantages, small windows where I can make sure that I have no contest against the enemies when invading him. And you guys see how like I have the fattest lead I've seen in a minute based off of those very small conditions, very small windows. Every single camp the guy lost, it just adds up, it just keeps adding up, it just keeps adding up. And it makes him be in this game state where he is down so, so, so, so, so much. And what we can do is send this bot lane. I'm gonna fake a recall here. I'm gonna just go ahead and keep pinging for the Baron. Hit this, finish this. We're gonna go for the Baron now. The Garen is stalling so many people. We have so much damage. As long as Vladimir tanks, which he is, which is great, we will be able to one-shot this thing because we have so much damage from Kaylen and the Graves. My Garen is 1/9, just full silly mode. Okay, so instead of just farming and going for like bajillion CS per minute, we should try and look to play the game a bit here. So I'm going to come over here. Lulu has ulti, good. I'm going to try to come help the Kaylen. One shot this guy here. Let's recall. Let's buy our shield bow. And let's go defend our bot camps now. And how would we actually end this game? So let's say you have successfully invaded, you use the rules I, I've collected or I showed you guys to invade. When I have this big of a lead, it really depends on your champion identity. So let's say I do this on a tank champion, then I'm looking to team fight. Let's say I do this on Graves, for example, I'm looking to find flanks and angles the way I'm doing right now. So my goal here is to find angles like this here to be able to kill them from this position here, from the side, where we have slight advantage. Wait, he landed his Q there. I wouldn't be able to kill him. Go slowly here. That guy just walked up in front of me. You're not allowed to do that. Cuz this gives us the Baron as well, or the, the, the mid turret, and also the dragon as well. And we're at a point now where we want to still kind of invade him, still kind of farm a bit, and then go play for this dragon. Like, invading is still good here, don't get me wrong. So we're looking to invade, but our main goal is to keep stacking objectives and progress the game by sitting in bushes. So Graves as a champion likes to sit in bushes and likes to flank enemies, right? Uh, maybe sometimes front to back if the comp allows for it, but in this game it kind of is like flank, flank, flank, one-shot them, one-shot their backline. But depending on your composition, you'll play the game differently. This Viego might overextend here as well. Overextend? He's farming his fucking own camps, bro. Okay, my ult's useless. Ult there, my bad. We can look for another recall here and then go towards the top side. Bro, I say overextend, he's farming his own damn camps. Let's go out of base. We almost have our IE. The Irelia is a little bit overextended, so now our— the goal of what we're trying to do here is play for progress in the game. So how are we going to do that? Well, first off, the way to progress the game for ourselves is by getting level 18. Our second way of progressing the game in this state is like getting camps. Oh, kind of scared here. Yeah, the, the Viego's up there and it's killing people. So, so killing people or chunking people out. So maybe we can't kill them, but if we chunk them out, we get a huge amount of res— huge amount of advantage by chunking enemies. So let's say I can't kill Senna, that's fine, but if I bring Senna to less than half HP or I bring this Thresh here to less than half HP, that's a lot of progress in this game. That puts us in a really good advantage, right? So even though we can't maybe kill them— oh, he's dead. Oh, we can kill them, but the goal is like, the goal is not necessarily to kill them, it's to chunk them. But if they try to defend and we kill them, that's great. Like, killing them is good, but like, if we can't, It's also not the end of the world. I don't want to lose too much more health here. Okay, I mean, progressing the game is possible. Actually, we have— we don't have that big of a wave. We can still progress the game. That was actually a good Good death from that guy. Okay, I can't really auto the Nexus. My teammates should be able to hit the Nexus and end the game. Yeah, GG. And that's how you completely dominate the enemy jungler. We're double his CS. He was actively playing and trying the entire game and he was unable to do anything. That's what good invades look like. We're using information, we're using, you know, conditions of our lanes, and we're absolutely stomping the enemy jungler. Again, I don't personally always play like this, but I want to show you guys that it's possible, it's doable. If you guys learn a thing or two from this video, Make sure to check out the Jungle Kingdom where I do more coaching.
