There's a specialty candy shop not far from where I live that each time I go into it, I pick up a candy that I remember as a kid, and I look at the label and I immediately get nostalgic. One of my favorites is Wacky Packages. Now, for those of you who don't know what Wacky Packages is, it's similar to baseball cards or football cards where you have an assortment of items inside the package including a really terrible hard piece of chewing gum. But differently than baseball cards or football cards where it's actually pictures of real people, Wacky Packages is a parody of different consumer items what we probably would see in the grocery store or department store or online. So you can see that it says Fruit of the Moon underwear instead of Fruit of the Loom, or Hamburger Hurter instead of Hamburger Helper. I absolutely used to get a kick out of these wacky packages because it just was funny how they would make a parody of a famous product. Now you don't have to look for candy necessarily, uh, to be thinking about fun times from your childhood. It could be simply a toy that you remember, such as a Slinky. Remember these? These are really cool, especially the metal ones, not the plastic ones that don't really work very well. Interestingly, those that are proficient at reminiscing, you know, looking back on happy times, rekindling joy from happy memories, those people tend to be the best at buffering stress as an adult. So think about this: is there an old toy that's waiting for you in a box that you have stored in your attic or in a closet or in the garage. Or maybe it's an old photo album that you haven't looked through in years. Or maybe you just need a bite of your favorite candy as a kid. Whatever it is, if you don't have it available, simply Google. See if you can find it on eBay or on Amazon or some other website. Simply having something like that, that brings back great memories from your childhood, can help you get over a certain type of stress.
