Peter Sorgenfrei reflects on a morning walk around a lake near his home, drawing on Ralph Waldo Emerson to argue for patience and letting things grow naturally. He uses the experience to make a case for slowing down and adopting the pace of nature.

Ralph Emerson said, adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience. I think about that quote a lot when I walk here in the morning, going around the lake near my house, how we're always rushing through things, how we're always trying to get the most amount of things done in the minimum amount of time, when in reality, if we pace ourselves and have patience, Things will work out. Things will grow the way they're supposed to grow. Things will become the things that they're supposed to become. And this morning walk reminds me to slow down and adopt the pace of nature and be more patient.
