Joseph Campbell said a clearly defined path usually means someone else already walked it. The speaker asks whether you're following your own purpose or just someone else's roadmap.

Joseph Campbell said, if the path before you is clear, it's probably because you're on somebody else's path. And by that he means, of course, if you know exactly what you need to be doing, if you can see clearly where you're going and what's going to happen when you get there, then probably somebody has done that before you. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It just means, and it can cause us to consider, Am I on my path? Am I doing the things in the way that I want to be doing, or am I just following somebody else's roadmap? Thought about that this morning. Thought I'd share it with you. Have a good one.
