I see bad hiring decisions daily. Here are 3 simple ways to fix it. Number 1, focus on problem-solving skills. So essentially, the mentality, the attitude of the candidate is much, much more important than the resume. I've hired more than 300 people in my career. I've always focused on the mentality of the person rather than where they went to school. Number 2, hire for cultural alignment. The thing that's going to make and break a new hire is whether or not they find their space in the team and whether or not that works out. And that comes down to understanding the culture and living the culture and being part of the culture and adding to the culture. And number 3 is to move quickly, but not too quickly. So, I advocate spending a ton of time with candidates and take really good care of them. But once you started the process, make sure they know where they are. Make sure that you're progressing them. Whether it's a yay or nay, keep them informed. So those were 3 ways to fixing bad hiring decisions.
