The difference between pie eaters and pie bakers: one wants a bigger slice of what exists, the other builds something new. When you feel envious, ask yourself which one you are. The baker mindset means creating value instead of chasing someone else's portion.

I'm going to talk about one of my favorite topics, pie or sweet things. But in this, for this video, it's about pie. So essentially, there are 2 kinds of people in the world. There are pie eaters and then there are pie bakers, right? So pie eaters, they want a bigger piece of an existing pie, right? They're looking at a piece of pie and they're like, oh, I love eating pie. I want more pie. I want a bigger piece of what's there. Bakers, they actually want to make a bigger pie or a better pie even, right? So eaters think that they will win if they get more pie. Bakers think that they will win if they get a better pie. The world really needs more bakers, right? We need to be more focused on creating or engaging with stuff that we can make bigger or better, not creating or being in the world for getting more stuff. Sometimes I think about that when I feel envious of somebody else having something, or when I want to have more of something. I'm thinking, well, is this a question about getting a bigger piece of pie, or is it about actually making the pie bigger? And I thought about this this morning, maybe because I want a piece of pie, or maybe because It's reflective of some of the conversations I'm having with folks around their feelings of self-worth in the world, where everybody seems to have more pie than them. And I want to explain to them that actually the pie that they have is the best pie they can imagine, and they should enjoy it even though their piece might be smaller than what somebody else has.
