I spoke to someone recently that was just let go in another corporate reorg, and she was starting her own new business. And she said something that I felt was really inspiring. She said, I used to feel really secure in my job, but after having been let go now 5 times in 5 different companies and 5 different reorgs, I realized that being my own woman in my own business, I'm actually much more secure because what I put in, I will get out. I am more in control of my destiny. I will not be part of a 10% razor cut. Everybody needs to go. I can actually control and manage my own destiny. So think about that if you're thinking about starting your own thing. Yes, it seems daunting. It seems insurmountable. But at least you're in control of your own destiny.
