This is a YouTube video titled "Don’t Neglect the Gold in Your Backyard" (uploaded 2025-08-22) containing a short English reflective monologue by a speaker labeled SPEAKER A. The speaker cites Ben Okri and encourages listeners to recognize the "gold" within themselves and in close relationships rather than seeking validation or reward elsewhere.
Ben Okri said, don't neglect the gold in your own backyard. For me, it's a reminder that we seek gold, we seek fortune, we seek validation somewhere outside of ourselves or outside of our relationships at home. And meanwhile, the gold's right there. It's within us. It's in our close relationships that we have. We don't need to go seek the gold and the reward somewhere else. We just need to look around where we are and discover that it's, it's right there for the taking.
