Peter Sorgenfrei reflects on the glass half empty or half full metaphor, drawing from The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. He describes morning walks around a lake with coffee and sun, arguing that gratitude for what you have matters more than debating whether it's enough.

In the book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, there's a passage where the mole says, is the glass half empty or half full? And the boy answers, I'm just happy to have a glass. And of course, the passage is about gratitude and appreciating what you have rather than worrying about whether or not the glass is half full or half empty. On mornings like this, when I walk around my lake, Or the lake, not my lake. I'm just grateful that I can do that, that I have the time and flexibility in my life to go for early morning walks, enjoy the coffee, enjoy the sun, enjoy nature. And so I wanted to remind you to be grateful for whatever it is that you have in your life, because it's not about whether or not your glass is half empty or half full. It's that you have a glass.
