Great operators solve problems fast and drive execution. Good board members stay quiet, ask sharp questions, and surface issues instead of fixing them. The key is knowing which role you're in.

Great operators in companies are very action-oriented. So they, of course, understand and know the strategy. They understand and know the priorities. And then they're good at taking action and doing things. On the other side, we have what great board members are. They're kind of like me right now, right? They blend into the background a little bit, but they're there present and ready. They've read the materials before the board meetings. And then they step up and ask the right questions whenever needed. Rather than solving the problems, they kind of raise some of the issues that might arise during the solving of the challenges that the companies face. So that's the difference between great operators or great company leaders and great board members, knowing whether or not you're the one who has to take action or whether or not you're the one just to ask the right questions.
