You absorb others' emotions because you're attuned to them. To stop: separate your feelings from theirs, then shift from absorbing to helping. Focus on what you can actually do instead of taking on their state.

Caring everybody else's emotions. Great question. Some of us are really attuned to what's happening in other people, and if they feel sad, we feel sad, or if they feel challenged, we feel challenged. Reversely, if they're excited, we get excited. I think it's because we mirror ourselves in the experience of others, and I think it's because we care a lot about our fellow man and woman and And therefore kind of take on those emotions. So what do you do? Well, first of all, you have to separate yourself from it, saying, well, even though so-and-so is sad, I don't have to be sad. But what can I do potentially to, to help them overcome this sadness or deal with it? So rather than taking it on and saying, I also have to have these emotions, think about what can you do for this person? How can you help them deal with these emotions or join in the celebration if they're upbeat and excited?
