Peter Sorgenfrei explores how the way you talk to yourself shapes your mental health. He references Brené Brown's work and argues that treating yourself with the same compassion you'd give someone you love, rather than harsh self-criticism, changes everything.

So how do you talk to yourself? Brené Brown reminds us that we should talk to ourselves like talking to somebody that we love. And she does that because she, of course, knows and recognizes that all of us have a tendency not to be as kind to ourselves as we have— as we are to others. So if that's you, if you're telling yourself you're stupid or you did something bad, or if there's any other negative self-talk going on, Just think about somebody that you really care about, and would you say the same thing to them? Would you talk to them in the same way? And if the answer is no— I hope it is— then start changing how you're talking to yourself.
