Gretchen Rubin says limits create freedom. Without boundaries, modern life becomes a prison of back-to-back meetings and obligatory events. Saying no to what doesn't matter leaves room for what you actually want to do.

Gretchen Rubin said, give yourself limits to give yourself freedom. And I think in modern-day life, it's the application of if you're not limiting yourself to the things that you do, to the stuff that you think about, to the people you engage with, you start ending up in some kind of prison of activity, right? We all know the full calendar of back-to-back meetings or the social life that feels more like a chore than a joy. Or the conversations that we're kind of tired of having, but we can't stop having them because we keep finding ourselves with those people. So by limiting ourselves, we find that freedom. Limiting ourselves to the things that we engage with, limiting to what we say yes to in meetings, what we say yes to in terms of social activities, and we find that freedom. I certainly feel much more free when there's nothing in my calendar or when I get to spend time just with the people that I enjoy being around. Or when I don't have to have the same conversation over and over and over again.
