Peter Sorgenfrei makes a case for recognizing people around you. A text, a call, or a word in person costs nothing but means everything to someone who's been working hard, whether they're doing something ordinary or remarkable.

Last night I was at a dinner with an amazing group of guys, and I thought about it afterwards, the need for recognizing someone for something that they've done. How often we go through life and somebody does something for us or for other people, it could be work or it could be at home, and we don't necessarily recognize it or appreciate it or even tell them. This morning I thought, if there's somebody that this week for you has done something ordinary or extraordinary, it doesn't really matter, but something that you appreciated, maybe you should send them a quick text or call them and— or tell them if they're nearby and just let them know that you recognize the effort that they've made and that you appreciate what they did.
