Peter Sorgenfrei argues work-life balance is a myth. His Whole Human Approach uses four axes combining professional vs. personal with tactics vs. strategies. The goal: align daily actions with bigger goals while respecting your own boundaries, so you're fully present wherever you are.

I'm glad that you asked about the Whole Human Approach, which is my hallmark approach to dealing with founder and CEO challenges. Essentially, the Whole Human Approach builds on 4 axes. You have your professional life and your personal life, and you have tactics and strategies. And so whatever we do, there's always something we can do, right? There's always some tactical thing we can do, but it has a purpose. It has to lead towards the strategy that we want in life. And then there's the personal and the professional. Sometimes people talk about dividing those 2 things in this thing called work-life balance. Well, guess what? There is no work-life balance. It's work-life integration. So no matter what you do, you're always going to be a little bit at work when you're at home, and you're always going to be a little bit at home when you're at work. So what I try to teach people is to understand how these things are connected and respect the boundaries that they should set for themselves so they can be at home at home and they could be at work at work.
