It features a single speaker addressing founders and CEOs with practical sleep-hygiene advice: keep a fixed sleep schedule (including weekends), avoid eating, drinking, and screens a few hours before bed, and optimize the bedroom (pitch dark, quiet, cooler temperature). The speaker also recommends two books—Matthew Walker's Why We Sleep and Nick Littlehales' Sleep—and invites viewers to ask questions or request other videos. Many of the founders and CEOs I work with struggle with sleep. For many years, I struggled as well. But a few small adjustments to your day can make it so that you get more sleep and better sleep. The first thing you need to do is to have a fixed sleep schedule. So you go to bed at the same time and you get up at the same time every single day, including on the weekends. This one sounds tough, but actually it's not. It just requires a little bit of planning as you go into evening. The second thing you need to do is you need to stop drinking and eating a few hours before you go to bed, along with stopping watching any screens. So that means no more Netflix binging, no phone time, and certainly not in the bedroom a few hours before you go to sleep. And the last thing you can do is to create an environment in your bedroom that's really conducive to sleep. So it has to be pitch black, no lights whatsoever. To the extent that it's possible, make it as quiet as you can in there and then cool down the temperature. Most of us sleep in bedrooms that are too warm to create the optimal conditions to get the best amount of sleep. Typically, I recommend 2 books for anybody struggling. The first one is Matthew Walker, Why We Sleep. This book talks about the science of sleep and sort of gets into more of the details of why it's important for the brain. And the second one is this book called Sleep by Nick Littlehales. And this book is brilliant because it actually gives very tangible, practical tips on how to improve your sleep in short order. I've read them both, and I highly recommend them to anybody who's struggling getting enough sleep during crazy times or just in general. As always, if you have any questions about this stuff or if there are other videos that you'd like to see me record, I'd be happy To do so, just let me know by sending me a message or commenting where you're seeing this.
