Peter Sorgenfrei breaks down what makes teams actually work: consistency in reliable delivery, resiliency when things fall apart, and vibrancy in how people treat each other. Three traits that separate teams that last from ones that don't.

Everybody is trying to identify what makes successful teams. And there's tons of lists and tons of ideas about diversity matters and all sorts of other things, which is all true. But in broad stroke, here are the 3 things I make— I think makes teams successful. One is consistency. Are they consistently able to deliver good results? Not just once, not just twice, but over time. Is there that cadence that allows the team to do that? 2, resiliency. So are they able to, when things do not go their way, to rejig and find a way through it and keep going even though everything looks insurmountable? And the last thing is vibrancy. That's the dynamics inside of the team. So how are people talking to each other? How are they treating each other? When somebody's down, is somebody else picking them up and vice versa? So what kind of vibration is going on in the team? So the 3 things I care most about when I think about successful teams are consistency, resiliency, and vibrancy.
