If you've become victim to meeting overload, here's a couple of things that you can do. So look at your calendar for the next couple of weeks, and if on average you spend more than 5 hours a week in a recurring meeting, think about the following. Can the information shared in the meeting be done asynchronously? So on Slack or email or otherwise, do you have to be in the meeting? Can the meeting be delegated to somebody else? Do you actually have to be in the meeting? What about the agenda? Can it be covered faster? Wait, what? There is no agenda? Well, that's rule number 1. You should have an agenda for any meeting that you attend, and you can look at it and say, hey, can we shorten it somehow? Can we do this in a faster way? If you experience that you're meeting and there's not enough new stuff happening, maybe you're meeting too frequently. Maybe take out the weekly meeting and make it biweekly. And then thirdly, or not thirdly, lastly, can anybody book you? Is there any time that's blocked for yourself? Maybe put in some blocks in your calendar that's not bookable for meetings, and that way free up time to actually think and do.
