Fear makes problems look bigger than they are. Tina Edwards uses a mountain metaphor to show how we mentally enlarge obstacles before we face them. When you actually confront what you're afraid of, it shrinks.

Tina Edwards said, if you approach the mountain in fear, it will appear bigger than it is. She's not talking about the mountain. She's talking about the challenges and issues before us. And if we fear whatever comes next, or a conversation or a disagreement that we're having that we need to deal with, if we carry that fear with us, it's gonna make it appear much bigger than it is, make it bigger than it is in our minds. So I don't know if you've had this feeling. You've had a difficult conversation that you had to take care of, you worried about it, and then when you actually did it, it wasn't that bad. The mountain wasn't that big. So think about that. If there's something that you're walking around and have fear to address, maybe just address it. See what happens. See if it isn't smaller than you, than you make it.
