Peter Sorgenfrei explains what meditation actually is, correcting the myth that it's about emptying your mind or escaping. It's about arriving in the moment and observing your thoughts as they come. He offers an email guide and custom recordings including hand and tree meditations.

I wrote about meditation this morning, and a lot of people think that meditation is about escaping. It's not. It's about arriving, arriving in that moment where you're sitting by yourself and time disappears. There's another misconception about meditation, which is that it's about emptying your mind and not having thoughts. That's also wrong. It's actually about observing your thoughts and realizing that they are just that— thoughts and ideas. If you want to get started trying meditating, I've written a bunch of stuff about it, so you can find that wherever you found this, or you can get in touch and I'd be happy to send you an email guide that I made, including some custom recorded meditations, a hand meditation, a tree meditation, and other things that could get you started.
