This is a YouTube video titled "How to actually get mentorship" containing a monologue or talk recorded on October 29, 2024, discussing strategies for earning trust and sponsorship in a team by solving complex problems and demonstrating competence on smaller projects. The content features a single speaker sharing advice on professional growth and mentorship.

The way that you become someone that people want to sponsor is by solving complex problems for people. Like, the reason why these people invested time in me was because I had earned their trust that I could solve complex problems for them. What typically happens is that anytime you join a team, you actually get the shittiest projects on the team. So you have to show that you're willing to hit a really high bar on the projects that seem small on the surface. When they're doing a new planning cycle, you are the one who actually has demonstrated that you're very competent. So you get those higher order projects, and that's typically how it works. So when people get these, like, small projects, they look down upon those projects instead. Earn that right on the team.
