If you're a lawn care company looking to send out emails and you're not really sure what to send out, in this video, I'm going to give you five emails to send out to your customer list to help you get more business in the door. My name is Phil Risher. I was recently featured on Jobber. This is the podcast that I recently did. Five low cost hacks to maximize your customer list. And in this video, I'm going to walk you through some of the strategies that we discussed here. But more importantly, I'm going to show you exactly what you should be saying, when or how you should be framing these. The plan for this video is to go through all five emails in the slideshow that I have. I'm going to walk through kind of what you can say and how you can position your company through these five emails. And at the end of it, you should have a good idea of things that you're going to do. You might set these up in advance or you might send them out if you're slow, but either way, you're going to have a good game plan for these five emails and what you should be saying to your customers to grow your business. So let's get right into this. Let me make myself a little bit bigger than this. All right, so the first email that we're going to send out is a 10% off annual plan. This one is great. If you send this out in January, February, basically, if you have contracts and you go month to month, sending this out will allow you to get a big lump sum of money upfront if you offer a discount if people pay for the entire year in January, February. But it also allows you to cross sell other plans. For example, fertilizer, mosquito control, you can lump on different plans. So that way you help with cash flow. In January, February, you have a head start, you know what you're planning for for the year. And then when you hit April, May, June, and you start getting really busy, you're not trying to scramble and get all these people on the books. You have a good game plan going into it with your service contracts. And this is a great way again, shoulder season, cash flow, cross sell other plants, fertilizer, mosquito control, other, whatever, other plants, irrigation, whatever else you're selling and send this out. January, February, this one works really good. And you can schedule this one to go out and you can even call your customer list during this shoulder season and just say, hey, 10% off annual plan. Let's make it happen. All right, Number one, number two, hoa. Quarterly email and special call to action. So if you don't just do residential work, but you also want commercial or homeowners association type of work, this is really good. Basically you build a list of all the hoas in your area. There's people all across the Internet that can do this. If you go to Fiverr and you have someone build a list for you of hoas in your community, that's a simple way. And here's the thing, your special CTA you want to offer to review their current contract. What this will allow you to do is to go in and see can you help save them money or not. Are there things like, for example, niche services that they're not receiving, for example, mosquito control or fertilizer plan or aeration on this field or that field or whatever they have in their local homeowner association or hardscaping, or there might be different opportunities that you can fit in and start to whittle your way into this hoa. The other thing that you can do is you can get on their vendor list. So that way for overflow worker, if things don't happen the way that they want, then you're on their vendor list and then they can use you for overflow work again so you can get in the door. One thing that we see a lot of times is like people are going for these big box full service companies and what happens is that they might be good, you know, they might have a lot of equipment and employees to do, you know, your mowing, but, but they don't. They're not localized or specialized in specific niche services that you might be able to add value in in specific instances where maybe they're willing to pay a little bit more or something like that for these niche services. This one works really good, is that, hey, we work with some community members in your specific HOA and they were saying that we should reach out to you because we did such a great job for them. Obviously you only want to do this if it's true, but a lot of times you're working in these communities already, you just don't have the big pie. You're just working at a local person's house. And that's a good way to get in the door by saying that we work with other local community members such as da da da da da, if they don't mind you saying that. But it allows you to at least get your foot in the door. One big thing about these HOAs, a lot of times they have meetings that you can go to and you can get the cards of these people and then you can put them into an HOA quarterly email, which we recommend. The quarterly email should go out during those main seasons when winter, spring, summer, fall. And they should be very poignant and, and focused on, hey, if you have you know, dry spa dry patches in your, in your homeowners association or in your community, we could help with that. Or right now you should be doing X, Y and Z, staying top of mind and educating and being the go to person. So that way when they do have an issue or they run into overflow work situation or someone drops the ball and they oh, I've been getting this email from these people all the time about this, let's reach out to them. So that's the second email. The third email is to cross sell services. If, if you, if you don't cross sell services, you're missing out on a bunch of opportunity. But once you get a customer in the door and you're just a mo customer, well you need to cross sell sell them other services. So that could be irrigation, fertilizer, mosquito control, hardscape. This is these ones you want to send again at that specific time of year. So like winter, spring, summer, fall, what should you be focusing on? Aeration, fertilizer, mosquito control. And these emails should be pretty straight to the point like hey, it's spring, spring is here. Now is the time when you should be planning for your mosquito control this summer, taking a look at all your irrigation, making sure that all your, your heads are, you know, working properly, yada yada yada, planning for any hardscape projects that are coming up now that the ground is soft and we can get to work, blah blah blah. In October you're going to be planning for exterior lighting. Maybe they you're doing Christmas lights or something like that. It's all about the time of the year. Hey, Christmas is coming. Do you have a plan for Christmas lights? Summer nights are coming. Do you have a plan for you know, exterior lighting, that kind of stuff. These emails are very purposeful for time of the year and you can also couple them with special offers which I didn't put special offers on this list but you, you can put a special offer in there like hey, right now is the perfect time to do aeration. Here's a coupon for X, Y and Z as a preferred ven. A customer of ours for a mo customer we do da da da da for you. So that's a really nice cross sell service. Number four is a referral email. These ones work really good Especially if you have a decent sized database of people that like you, like good Google reviews, good reputation. So some ways that you could do these, and there's a bunch of different ones, pay for a spring cleanup for someone, hey, forward this email to a friend and we'll do the spring cleanup for them and we can send you the bill. This is basically like getting a lead or a referral that someone else is going to pay for. Let's say it's a couple hundred bucks. But then now you have this person in your database. You have their email, you have their phone number, you've done work at their house. So now you can start cross selling them. This is a really good one. Especially if it's like someone's mom or someone's sister or something like that and you want to pay for a spring cleanup for them, giving your people the opportunity is huge. The second one is give a mo. We all know that no one wants to mow. And maybe someone is sick or maybe someone's on vacation and you want to give them a mo. Do the exact same thing, get their information, send them the bill, they're in your database, the whole thing. And then last one is refer a friend. You say 50 bucks and they say 50 bucks. Basically you create a form on your website. They put in and then on the form you have a specific thing that says who referred you. And then you add a $50 credit onto their account and then you give them a $50 off as a new customer. So inside of all your emails that you send to your customers, I would pick a referral, one of these options and I would send those because these right here, they're a great way people already know, like and trust you. They just want to share it with others. All right, and the last one is just a general monthly newsletter which if you're not doing this, this is a great opportunity to stay top of mind. What we recommend is send out a monthly email to everyone. And here's how you can do it. You can get your most popular social media post for that month. If it's a before and after picture or something that you're doing in the local community, try to have your logo or something in there. You could put that in your email newsletter. Local things to do. So right now, in summer, you know, top five things to do or top three things to do in this area, here's what we recommend. Cross sell some services for the time of year. From that other email that I mentioned, cross sell in there, pull a customer review, a Google review, get A before and after picture. Stick that in there and then have that referral a friend in there as well. If you have blog posts, you can stick a blog post in there. Cross sell, really it's just like adding value, staying top of mind. Not over hard sales, just really staying top of mind and fun. And so this, we would recommend sending this out every single month. Staying top of mind. Because what happens is people, when they get this from you, you should be getting, you know, 20, 30, 40% open rates. If you have 100 people, that's 30 or 40 people that are going to get an email like this. But what's more important is that when you send them one of these cross sell emails and it's out of the blue, people are like, ugh. All they're doing is just selling me, selling me, selling me. But if you're sending them this monthly newsletter and then you do send out the cross sell one, you know, in a once every quarter or something like that, a couple weeks after you send out that, that email newsletter now it's like, oh, this is that company that's been sending this. Oh, they're doing this special offer, let me send this out to a friend or whatever. Stays top of mind. So if you need help with this kind of stuff, that's what we do at Flash Consulting.
