Phil Risher urges local service businesses (lawncare, HVAC, electricians) not to become complacent just because they've been in business a long time. He emphasizes staying active in the community—attending networking groups, hosting or participating in local events—otherwise newer competitors will become the local face.
They need to be in the community. Especially if you're like the local company and you want to be the local company, you have to have people that are out there in the community. You can't just be sitting back because other people are going to come in and do this stuff and they're going to be the local face. And so many times I see, like, people have been in business for 30 years and, yeah, everyone knows us, everyone knows, but they're not doing anything. Like, they're not going to networking groups, they're not holding, you know, events. There's community events that they're not even a part of.
