Phil Risher says Google Ads failures for home-service businesses usually aren't the platform's fault. You need a dedicated landing page with custom tracking, monthly lead analysis to measure conversions, and a system to nurture Google leads as cold traffic, not warm referrals.

Most Google Ad problems for home service companies are not actually Google Ad problems. You may have spent money on Google Ads and it was a black hole. You spent $5,000 and you got $0. That doesn't necessarily mean that Google Ads are bad. There are specific things you have to do to make Google Ads work for your business. For example, you need to have a designated landing page. On that landing page, you need to have a custom tracking form and tracking phone number so that way you know the leads that came from that page. Then every single month, you need to take all the leads that came through and analyze what happened to those leads. Did they actually convert into jobs? Did you send them a quote, but you didn't close them? Did you actually turn them into revenue? Those are 3 specific problems that happen into this funnel. If you treat Google Ads as a referral, they are totally different people. Google Ads are cold people that you need to build trust with. You need to nurture them. Warm leads coming into your business, they're gonna close. It's a much different sales process. And a lot of people, when they start running Google Ads, they don't look at it in a different way, and they just spend a bunch of money, and they feel like Google Ads doesn't work for their business. And it's because they don't have the right system.
