How to get google reviews on autopilot with Clay Lawrence

Welcome back to the show. I'm your host, Phil Risher. And on today's episode, we're going to be discussing how to get Google reviews on Autopilot with Clay Lawrence. Thanks so much for joining us today, Clay.

Yeah, happy to be here. Thanks for having me on.

Yeah, for sure. So Clay is the owner of Review Harvest, and today I asked him to come on the show to talk about. He has a very unique way of helping businesses get reviews on Autopilot and just in general, very cool products. So he can you tell us a little bit about, like, how you even got into helping home service businesses get reviews?

Yeah, for sure. So in high school and in college, I had like a marketing agency. So I would just meet with local business owners and they'd be like, hey, I'm just trying to figure out what they needed help with. And then I would just go figure out how to do it. So when I was a kid, I would charge like next to nothing, like $10 an hour, $15 an hour. And they're like, you want a website? I can do that. And I would just spend hours on YouTube figuring it out. And so after doing that all throughout high school and doing that all throughout college, um, graduated, just continued working on my marketing agency full time on that and just classic, you know, agency where I was just doing a lot of different things for a lot of people. And I felt like when I focused on one client, I was, you know, letting the others fall to the wayside because I wasn't, you know, really focused on what service we were providing or what niche we were serving. And the one thing they all had in common was they all loved my review system. And so then I just built, I use no code tools and stuff like that to build a review software. And in the last, you know, six or seven months, I brought on a developer full time out of Colorado who's really great. And we've kind of, you know, been really able to scale this up and have our own software now to help people get reviews. And kind of the home service thing just happened organically. You know, obviously a lot of home service businesses know that reviews are very important. Some still don't, obviously, but it just kind of organically, as we said, hey, we get help, people get reviews. You know, the home service people kind of started rolling in.

Yeah, I think that's really key, is that like you serve a certain type of client, but then you really pinpoint like, okay, here's the exact problem that these people have and how am I uniquely positioned to solve it which then you can go and actually solve that problem instead of trying to do a ton of different things just like this, what we do and we do it really, really good. And it's good that you figure that out. Can you talk a little bit? So like, most people that listen to the show are going to be 1 to 10 million in revenue or they're even just starting out for some component. A lot of people, you know, I just asked my cousin last week, he didn't leave me a review. You know, kind of silliness that goes on with reviews. Let's say that you were to start working with a company, how would you, how would you recommend that they go about getting a bunch of reviews quickly?

Yeah, for sure. I mean, so really, if you are, if you're wanting to automate this process and if you're serious about ranking higher on Google and growing, then you're going to want to use some sort of software or some tool in general. I'll just give kind of the basics for if you're going to do it manually. You can't. What I recommend is just have a keyboard shortcut or have like something copied on your phone that has your Google review link. Just make sure your, you or your employees are texting it out after every service and then have somebody in the office or, you know, have a time of day that you just go follow up and see if they've left that review. But if you really want to do it, easily the first play in our playbook is always a review reactivation. Right? So you probably have, you know, hundreds or thousands of previous customers that had a great experience with you. They just didn't leave a review. And so the first thing we do is kind of reactivate that previous customer list slowly to drip, drip out those reviews and make it look natural and organic, organic on Google. And then we'll just get plugged in with Jobber or whatever CRM you use to automate the process.

Okay, so someone has like 2,000 people in their database. They have 80 reviews. They want to get reviews. So how do you like drip it out? What do you say in that email?

What do you do? Yeah, for sure. So when it comes to, if you, you say you have 2000 previous customers and 80 reviews, like my eyes get big. I'm like, oh yeah, we're about to get you a bunch of results here. But you know, the, the verbiage that we find that works the best is just stupid, simple and short. You know, it's like, hey, this is, you know, business Owner name from business name. We hope you had a decent experience with us. Would you mind taking a second to leave us a review? And then really the fortune really is in the follow up. We get about 40% of our reviews from the follow up texts and emails. And so the main thing that we do that's different than most other softwares out there is that we do a personalized image. So what that means is we can get your team photo or we can get a photo of one of your technicians and we can auto populate your customer's name on the image. So every time we send out that review request via text and they, they don't just see just a boring old bland text that now any day, pretty much most major CRMs can just send out a boring text, right?

Yeah.

But now they actually see the person that came to their house or they see the logo of the brand they recognize they worked with with their name on it to get their attention and get them to take action.

Okay, so someone could take their database, then upload into a platform, then send out a text or an email, have a custom picture that says like hey Phil.

Exactly.

And then, and then the actual content would say like, you know, thanks for choosing us, blah blah, leave us a review. And then you mentioned this follow up piece. So I guess if they don't click on something then you send some more follow ups.

Yeah, exactly. So like how it works with us is you just click on Start, you connect your Google business profile so we can get your Google review link and we can respond to those reviews. You click on connect jobber, you pull or whatever CRM, you pull your previous customer list in, you upload a photo and you click on reactivate list and that's it. And then for the follow up piece you can kind of adjust in our dashboard your settings, right? So you say we'll do one follow up, you'll do five follow ups. Three is kind of the sweet spot we found when we've tested like what gets the least amount of, you know, stop messaging me. And the most amount of reviews. Three is kind of the sweet spot really, just because people are busy, right? You know, like taking kids to soccer practice, doing, you know, mowing the yard, whatever people are doing, they're just busy. They're not really worried about leaving us reviews. So the more times we touch them, the more likely we are to get that review.

Yeah, for sure. Have you seen any data? Like if you send it with a picture versus not with a picture, then it gets certain results or something?

Yeah. So yeah, we get, I mean it's tricky because we do the follow ups normally without a photo and the initial message with a photo. And so in general follow up messages are going to get a lower conversion rate. But when we've test, when I have tested a little while ago, it's really hard and just like, just so you, just so you know, it's really hard to test review conversion rate and get a big enough sample size with a consistent enough audience to like get good data. Right. Because if I go work with a dryer vent, you know, cleaning company with 10,000 previous customers who might be in the middle of New York, who, you know, these are customers, super old database, they're going to get a much worse review conversion rate than somebody like in south Georgia with 2,000 customers that they've served in the past couple years. So like no matter what you send, you're going to get a very different conversion rate. But yes, the personalized image gets at least a double and the conversion rate as opposed to just a normal text.

Yeah, I, I think when I was at a home service business, we were air duct cleaning company, we were running 14 routes every day, three jobs a day. So it was high volume. And when I started there, they had 36 Google reviews. Yeah, that's ridiculous. And what I found was, and you alluded to this was you need to also have the personal touch. Like my name is Phil, I'm your technician, I'm here serving you. Can you leave me a review? But then also the automation piece to catch all and reactivate potentially. I think if you do both, don't just rely on the automation piece, but also have that human touch. It sounds like that what' work, that's what's worked best.

Yeah, for sure, for sure. I mean we recommend too, I mean get the review however you can. The more times you ask, the more likely you are to get it right. So give your guys tap cards, you know, give them QR codes on their phones, you know, whatever it is, the more times you ask, the more likely you are to get the review. And so but yeah, having that personal touch is pretty essential just because, because like I said earlier, all these big software companies are just adding a basic review component. And it's not, I mean it's not awful, it's not the worst thing in the world, but it's just like a basic, hey, do you mind leaving us review? Right. It's nothing crazy. And so consumers will eventually get banner blindness to that. Right. After all these, you know, softwares own it and all These business owners turn it on, they're just gonna get banner blindness to oh, they just requested to leave a message. So what can we do to stick out and stay ahead of the curve there? Make sure we're getting the most amount of reviews?

Yeah, for sure. Have you seen like if you get a, if you get, is there like, hey, you have too many reviews, you need to open another Google business profile and start getting reviews over here or is there any like threshold for too many reviews or.

Yeah, no, that's a question we get all the time. Like I feel like people, sometimes people think there's like a magic number. So yeah, I just need to get 50 reviews and if I just get 100 reviews, whatever would be great. And it's just also relative to your area and who you're competing against. Right. If all your competitors have a thousand reviews, then you need to make sure you get a thousand or more than that reviews as well or even just, you know, in the 5, 6, 700 to compete. Right. You want to be in the same realm as everybody else. I haven't really seen anybody get too many reviews. I think that there does depend if you're not in a very competitive market. Like I've got a couple of clients who they have 800 more 5 star reviews than their competitors. And so for them I would say like if review recency is still definitely a thing, it's White Spark that did the study that does studies every year normally. Darren, he said that he thinks review recency and the new study is going to be top five. He's in the top five ranking factor for local businesses. So it is still so, so important to consistently ask for reviews and get them because Google loves a review left today a lot more than they love reviews left two years ago. Right. And so you don't want your profile to get stale and you'll even find that a lot on Google business profile. Obviously there's a lot of things that go under ranking but you'll find people with, you know, 400, 500 less reviews outranking people with thousands of reviews, you know. And so yeah, I would say just consistently get reviews. But there does come a point where you probably would want to, if you could start another profile in a legit way that's not going to get you banned. You probably would want to go ahead and get some additional service area there.

Yeah. What we usually do and we recommend to companies is do a quick analysis of your market. So do the service in your area on Google and then see what your competitors, those top three people, if they have 100 reviews, 200, 300 will then shoot to get at least over a hundred. And usually if your name lines up with the query and you're in the location then you should be able to be shown. But at least you have a number to shoot for at that point.

Just what you're saying for sure. Like if we were going to add additional service, I would say our additional service would be like getting these businesses DBAs to put their main keyword in their business name. Like that would be the additional service we can add. Because I've done that for, you know, I've worked with over 300 or 400 customers now and helped them rank higher outside of distributors. And so like you, you make that change and literally within hours you see. That's right. And so it's crazy but I think that also like there is something to be said about having just an obscene amount of more views than your competitors because the additional click through rate you'll get is crazy. When you're in the map pack and you've got, you're looking at some of the 500, 500 reviews, 4.9 rating 400 and then like 600, like there's not one clear. I mean yeah, you probably go to 600 I guess but if you've got 3000, the additional click through rate you're going to get there is, it's pretty significant.

Yeah, the, that Duckling company that I mentioned, we implemented like a system kind of like what you're saying now they have 4,361 Google reviews and their competitor has like maybe 200. So clearly like they're going to work with them and then what they did was they opened another location in another state and they took that process that they're currently doing and this went over there. And in the first couple of months they're already dominating that space as well. Yeah, we're still getting reviews on both platforms, both Google business profiles. Yeah, I think there's a layer to dominating organic local search. There's another part to this that a lot of people are missing right now which is in the AI search side of things. Yeah, because with AI search it's not just pulling in, you know, like whatever the LLMs AI tells them, it's using your Google reviews as well as one of the lever points to say like use this company and here's the actual data that the customers are saying, oh 100.

Like I don't think they've rolled it out completely for the local searches but like in the big cities. Yeah, you type in, you know, plumber near me and it's gonna, if you do plumber Seattle or something, I know it'll give you.

Yes.

People pretty much from the Google map pack that, you know, say they've got this many reviews, whatever. It's like, yeah, Google reviews are still going to be important. I think with, with other AI search engines it just comes into, they're just being fed a lot more holistic picture than Google, I guess. And so that's why we repurpose all their, we can repurpose all their five star reviews into social media content. We don't have that baked in the dashboard yet. We're rolling that out later this, later this summer. But basically anytime they get a five star view, we can automatically post that to their social media and they'll actually post that. People like, like most review softwares, it's just like, you know, just like it just shows the link to the review or something. But you'll be able to upload photos, kind of change the colors, move where, where it is stories and posts. So that's, we're excited about that.

Yeah, I think that's pretty cool. Is this something actually that we do manually? So we have like a content calendar and then we have themes that we want to talk about. So we sear the reviews for like whatever the theme is and then we take the review, put it into a canva template, make it look semi nice and then post it. But it sounds like you guys are automating that.

Yeah, exactly. We can completely automate it. So what you'll be able to do is you'll basically upload like 10 designs, right? So you upload a photo, you can either use one of our templates or you can upload one of your photos. And if you have professional photos, it'll look really good. And then you can basically move, so you have the little card that shows the review, you can move that card around to where it shows, you know what on that photo, where does it look best? And then you can, you know, resize the photo, resize the background photo and all that sort of stuff to make it really custom and make it look really good. Because what we found is that there's a lot of softwares, review softwares that can offer that, but they're just not, it's just not great. Nobody wants to use them, you know.

Yeah, for sure. It'll just like take the words and then post them and it just looks a little clunky and not like as engaging. If Someone's scrolling through and seeing stuff for sure.

And a lot of times like those other softwares, they'll, they'll post all five star reviews. So they don't have like a threshold of what qualifies as a viewer want to be posted. Right. And so we can kind of embed some smart stuff like it has to be a certain amount of characters and some AI to say, hey, we're going to pull the best part of this review if it's really long. Or we're going to not post reviews that are just like great job, you know, because then just look weird. It's like, oh, you just said great job. That's all they said, you know, and so just to make sure there's a post that people actually want to spend the time to look at and know that you are a good business.

Yeah, I think that's really good. What about technician, like referral review, like payments? Like do you recommend that they pay per reviews to their technicians or incentivize them to get reviews? Is there any numbers for that or what do you think?

Yeah, I mean, I think that incentives are great in terms of like keeping your technicians incentivized and keeping them around longer. We don't have any of that, any of that native in the dashboard. It's probably something that will come out with like a leaderboard and stuff like that eventually. You know, I know that there's applause and a couple other softwares out there that do some great incentive programs. And if people are, I mean, we had people like I had somebody the other day that was like, oh yeah, I give every, every time somebody gets a review with their name and I give them $150. And I was like, we try, we charge $10 for reviews. So like you're gonna love us because we're a lot cheaper. But if you are, you know, if you do have a big team, I think it's a great way to keep people motivated and make sure the quality of work stays high, make sure they're asking and all that sort of stuff.

Yeah, I agree. That's what we implemented at the company. And the technicians then they went from making, you know, 20, $25 an hour to making 35 DOL got a review on every job and if they have their name in it, then they're actually writing something in the review which gives more relevance and maybe even sharing before and after pictures to. Then they're in the review. I think you can really build this out. You mentioned something there. So you got you guys like It's a pay for per review model kind of thing.

Yeah, yeah. So right now we have pay per view pricing. So we really wanted to accommodate all businesses. And so like, if you just have a couple customers a month, you know, if you're like a really high service, a really high ticket business, you might not get but 5, 10 customers a month, then doesn't really make sense for you to pay like 200amonth just to like send out 10 texts. Right?

Yeah.

So. Or if you're just getting started, right. You don't want to go pay a hundred dollars a month if you don't have any customers yet. Right. So our idea is that you can get set up with like the best version of a review software for your business. And it's no monthly subscription, you only pay for the reviews you get. Right. And so if you get three reviews, it's, you know, 30 bucks. If you get, if you get 100 reviews, we have a 299 monthly cap. So we're not going to charge you $1,000 for it for those reviews. But yeah, we're playing around with that now. I think that we want to, we'll learn a lot about, you know, I think people love it, so I think we'll probably keep it for a while.

Yeah, I think it's good.

But yeah, it makes, it makes, it makes some stuff on our end a little bit complex. But I think that we should probably eat that so that, you know, people can have that offer.

Yeah, I think it's pretty cool. I don't think there's any other companies that do that, but I think for companies, if you're just starting out or you don't have any reviews, it's just do this, you don't pay any money. If you get reviews, then you pay money and you get to use the platform. It's like, it makes sense to me for sure. And I think it's adding value. I understand like from a business perspective is like you get one review, it's ten bucks and it probably cost us five or six bucks. So it's like. But hopefully you get, it helps you grow your business and then you kind of scale up from there, probably.

Yeah, yeah, for sure. And that's like I always talk about the review flywheel. It's, it's pretty that the deck is not stacked in like smaller businesses favor. Right. Because if you want to become the number one review business in your area, you're probably competing against people that have hundreds more views than you and also have way more customers. Than you do. Right. And so the more customers you have, the more reviews you can get. The more reviews you get, the more customers you get. And so it's that flywheel you want to start turning as soon as possible. And that's why we wanted to make it, you know, feasible for brand new businesses to get started with the grid system and also just one little to hit on like kind of beating those businesses who might have more customers. Google says that anyone who's interacted with your business can leave you review. And so I recommend just getting crafty with who you ask. Did you go and have, did you go and give a quote? Maybe they didn't choose you, but they had a great experience or you were able to, you know, help them out with something. You know, ask them a review for that. Did you, were you in your truck and you helped somebody change their tire? Ask your review for that. You know, ask friends and family, you're giving free quotes or like looking at stuff while you're over for dinner. You know, just ask as many people as you can because that's going to be asking more people and getting a higher conversion rate is going to be how you catch up to those bigger businesses.

Yeah, I, I agree. So usually like when we start with a company, we'll say, hey, let's do the analysis, figure out how many reviews that you need to get. Here's your review link. And then basically to your point is like all your suppliers, if they supply you materials, they already interact with you, they would probably refer you anyways. Any vendors or subcontractors that you work with, they'd already do that. You rented a space, probably the Realtor that you work with, anyone else, like all these people that already interact with you that would refer you or that you're probably giving them advice to, they should leave you a review as well.

Yeah. And if you're, if you're working with another business, like just go leave them a review. Yeah, it's like, hey, I'll leave you leave me a review. I don't know if Google would love that. But hey, you know, you're genuine, you interact with the business.

Yeah. What about like responding to reviews? Do you guys do any of that kind of stuff or is it on the business? Because I think that's important from what I know from the Google's results.

Yeah, so we respond to, we respond to all the reviews for them. So all the four and five star reviews for them, we leave right now. We leave the negative reviews for people, but the average star rating on the platform that we get is a 4.91. So we don't really get a lot of negative reviews but for the most part, yeah, we respond to the four and five star reviews for them. We use AI. It sounds, it sounds just like you or I would, if we went clocked in and put it in a chat GPT or you know, went to respond to it, it sounds good. And in terms of ranking, it's no longer a ranking factor. Like it's not back in the day you could include keywords in it like a long time ago, like four or four years ago. You can include keywords in it and it would help you rank higher. It's no longer a ranking factor. Google patch that because like obviously people abuse that. They're like thank you for choosing my. Yeah, this stuff.

Did you know that we also do.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. In this area. And so, so yeah, the Google pretty much patched that. But it is a conversion rate factor if you think about it from like people, potential customers scrolling through your reviews and reading them. Like if, if they're putting you against another business and one business hasn't responded to any interviews, another person's adult will respond to every review you're going to, they're going to probably choose you over the other business.

Yeah. There's actually a Google help doc if you were to look up how to rank locally on Google. There's a Google help doc and one of the things it says on there is responding to reviews, good or bad is one of the things that they look at because to your point you're actually interacting with your Google profile. So that tells them like you're looking at this stuff and you're caring about what the customer says. The other thing that a lot of people miss is the one stars. They just want to blast people and like light them up. And it's like your prospective customers are reading these reviews if something goes bad. So you need to respond accordingly to this. Right?

Yeah. Oh yeah. Number one thing I tell people is like you know, take 24 hours, like cool off, you know, like don't respond right away or if unless you're level headed, you know. But yeah, you want to respond to the potential customers reading that review and also think about that one star review is that one star review is going to add validity to all your other five star reviews because it's going to show that it's possible for you to get a one star review. Right. And so you know, consumer research says like 4.8 star rating is the most convincing and as business owners, you know, we want, we want all, you know, perfect five stars. I mean, Review Harvest has never gotten a bad review. And I'm dreading the day where, you know, we're like, oh, no. But I know I've been preaching it for forever. You know, one one star review just adds validity to all your other five star reviews. And so, yeah, just cool off, respond to potential customers reading the review and try to make things right if possible. You know, removing that review can be, can be pretty hard unless you make it right with the customer and just get them to remove it themselves.

Yeah, we tell people, like, call the customer that's upset, talk to them, figure out what's going on, try to resolve the issue. If they're still crazy, respond accordingly. But your prospective customers are reading the one star reviews to see if it goes bad. Like, how do you respond? Do you take customer service seriously? And that's why you have to have a level head, because they don't know all the full details. You mentioned one thing that I want to ask you about. Some people give us pushback about automating stuff because they're like, well, then they're gonna give me all one stars and they're not gonna give me four or five stars. Like, what? Like, is it like out of all these five stars you get, you might get one star, like review gating and like all this stuff. What do you think about that?

Yeah, so we don't do review gating right now.

Can you explain what it is for people that don't know?

Yeah, for sure. So what it basically means is you say, hey, you might take leaves to review and instead of taking them directly to Google, you take them to like a filter page or something where it says, how was your experience with Flash consulting or review Harvest or whatever it is? And if it's like a negative, like, frowny face, it takes you to an internal page to leave like internal feedback. And if it's a green smiley face, takes you to Google or whatever the review site is. And so we don't do that right now. The main reason is, is that one, it just adds friction so you get less reviews. And two, like I said, we've gotten probably over over 50,000 reviews so far and the average star rating is 4.91. And so it's just like, not really been an issue. And I think that if you are consistently getting negative reviews, you know, review gating would be like cutting the branch instead of cutting down the tree and like hacking at the root. Like hacking at the root Is like, why do you have so many negative customers? Like we had. I've had, Honestly, I have one customer out of the 350 people we've. Businesses we've worked with. I have one person off top of my mind that I just told, hey, you need to stop using us because like we're requesting reviews for and you're getting bad reviews and you need to go fix that. And then once you fix that, then you can, you can. We'd love to help you get some more reviews, but. But yeah, I mean, we don't do that. We just push them through to Google. I think if you're, like I said, it's okay to not have a perfect 5.0 rating. It's okay to get a couple negative reviews. And you want to get so many reviews too, that you have a little bit of a buffer that like one one star review doesn't really hurt you. I get it. To business owners who are just starting to have four or five reviews, like one one star review is really scary. That's going to tank your rating. But once you get to where you have a couple hundred reviews, like one negative review isn't doing anything. And it also still helps with recency. Right. Review recency is just that you're getting reviews and that you're consistently still, but it's not about positive reviews. And so it still helps get some recent reviews that show in Google, you're still in business at least.

Yeah, I agree. People bring up the review gating with us all the time. And it's like, if you're worried about 1 stars and you get 1 stars, then you got to fix the problem in the business so that you don't get one stars and you deliver a great customer service. That's like a holistic business thing. It's not just like a review gating situation that you need to solve.

No 100%. And a lot of times sometimes the way review companies do, it just significantly hurts conversion rate. Like the ones that say, like, hey, how was your experience? Text us back one through five. Like I've tested that. You got to, you're waiting for them to respond to a text and then you're, you're texting them again after that. You can automate it and stuff. But like just, it's so many steps for them to go through just hurts the total number of views you get. And like, review quality is really important as well. And you touched on that with like the before and after photos and them adding text and stuff like that. And so we've tested, you know, like last year I tested basically telling them to add keywords and stuff like that. And just from what I found, or telling them to say something along the lines of, you know, we had a good experience, yada yada, this area, this service, whatever. And from what I found, I think it just makes it sound like work. And the people that were just going to leave a five star review, they don't leave a review at all because like, oh, you're asking me making sounds like homework. You know, here's a homework assignment, go do this. And the people that were going to get on their soapbox and leave two paragraphs, we're going to do that anyways, right? So we just have a very simple review ask and you'll find that people will upload photos and they'll talk about, you know, their dead dog and it'll be like three paragraphs about how amazing your company is and then you'll have something, just leave a five star review. And it's like, I think it's, it kind of just evens itself out.

Yeah, I agree. So you have the, the review pay, pay for review thing, then you have the social media posting side of things and then inside of the review request, you get a custom name on every single one that comes in. Are there any other features that are rolling out or things that you're like, this is. People should do this?

Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, obviously responding to the reviews as well. And then a lot of the stuff that, a lot of stuff that we do, we're trying to stay pretty focused and nowadays with AI, the bottleneck is not adding a feature, it's not generating the code to add a feature. That's the easy part. We're just trying to make sure we do things the right way and we, you know, keep onboarding simple because that's our biggest thing I think, you know, you have all these different things you can sell, like, oh, we're the quickest, we're the easiest, we're the best, you know, we're the most reliable, whatever. And you know, I want to say that we're all those things, but I think that one thing that we really try to sell is just easy. Like it's so easy to get set up. Like it's just connect, Google business profile, connect jobber, add photo reactivate, list, you're good, you never have to worry about it again. Like when we interview our customers, the number one thing we always hear that they love is just to set it and forget it it part of it it's like spend five minutes setting it up, you never have to worry about it again, you know. And you think about as a business owner, you know, we're all stressed. We got so many things we're juggling so many things we're trying to remember this. Think about all the areas of your business. If you can just take one area off the table in five minutes and never have to worry about it, like that's a good deal, you know, the bunch of ones, that's a good deal. And so a lot of the stuff that we're doing, improvements is really just stuff on the back end, like testing, hey, this script works the best. This is the timing. We have a bunch of data now. It's like what time of day, what follow up cadence, what is the best thing to get the most amount of reviews possible. So we're doing that sort of stuff. And then we'll also probably add leaderboards and we'll add some basically comparisons. You can see your competitors and how they're doing compared to you and just some small stuff but nothing huge on the docket right now besides social planning, social posting. And then once we get that.

Yeah, that makes sense. What about what. So you mentioned about timing. Is it better to send these out like at night when people are not working or in the morning, like 10am or days of the week?

Like yeah, for sure. So depending on the business, most time, if you request a review right away, you'll get the best review conversion rate, right? You want to get them at that kind of peak excitement moment where they're like, oh, you know, it's great. But you know, for poop scooping, for example, we were talking about that earlier. For poop scooping businesses, if you request right away, you don't get a great review conversion rate because most people aren't home when they're poop scooping, they're at work, they're gone, they haven't even seen the yard yet. And so we found poop scooping is requesting a review like later in the day, like 5, 6pm or the next day after they've actually seen the yard gets a much better review conversion rate. But if you're talking about reactivation, right, we're going to reach out to people who haven't worked with us in a couple months or a year or whatever it is. Then you definitely wanted to go like later than day the better. Once people are getting off work, there's like a little, a slight peak around lunchtime, like click through rate, you get a slight peak There. But like early in the morning, you know, 9 to 11, you don't really want to request reviews. You don't want to do it in that, you know, kind of after lunch to still working time. But once, 4 or 5, 6pm that's the best time to request a review.

Yeah, that makes sense because we get questions a lot like lawn care, cleaning companies, poop scooping, those types of businesses. The customer's not home, but you're still doing the work. But then you can't like ask them right at the time, they gotta go see it. So all that makes sense, what you're saying, I think, yeah, afternoons or lunchtime would make sense when they actually see things. What about like, I guess like leaving a QR code or any of that stuff or just better to text them?

Yeah, I mean, I think so. You have the tap cards, right? These tap cards. And we've given them to clients and stuff like this. And these are great, you know, you can get reviews. One thing I found when we've worked with people using tap cards is that generally the quality of the review is lower. Because I'm like, with you face to face, right? We're talking about, oh, yeah, the yard looks great, whatever. And I like, yeah, hey, you mind tapping this and like leaving us a review? And you're like, hey, leave us a review. You know, you're like making sure they actually do it because, you know, they tell you to leave review, but they don't actually, actually. So you're like making sure they leave Ruby right there. You're like, yeah, just tap it there. And most time when they're in the yard talking to the person trying to get you paid, whatever, they're just gonna like leave five stars, maybe say good job and, and not, you know, and.

Just post it, type it out.

Whereas when you text them at a more ideal time or you text something to get back to it later, they can upload the photos they took of the job. They can, you know, they're sitting on their. Now they're sitting on their couch with their beer and a little bit more. More time and relax to. To write a couple sentences about how great you did. And so that's kind of. We found, but also, you know, shows you how important timing is. About 34% of the clicks to leave a review happen within the first 10 minutes of that text going out. So that shows, like, if we text them in the middle of the day while they're working, like, the chances of them coming and clicking on that link six hours later are Pretty low. So that's why one, follow ups are important and two, just getting that timing right is important.

Yeah, makes sense. I imagine. Then you could do one text follow up at like 12 noon and then another text follow up at like 6pm and different times of the day to see. Maybe you could catch them in those first 10 minutes.

Yeah, yeah, for sure.
