Phil Risher tells home service businesses to stop guessing whether ads work. Track everything: send ads to landing pages with custom forms, use tracking phone numbers logged into your CRM, record calls, and use CallRail for provisioning numbers.

One of the huge mistakes that home service businesses make is that they operate on gut feeling. They don't know if they're spending $2,000 on Google Ads and is generating $20,000 or $0. They just have this feeling that it's working or it's not. What they need to do is implement tracking on all of their ads. And they do this in three ways. One, they send all of their ads to a landing page. On that landing page, you have a custom tracking form and a custom tracking phone number. When someone clicks the phone number or the form, it registers as a lead. That tracking phone number should get dumped into your CRM and you should have a way to go back and listen to the calls those leads came from. A lot of people ask me, okay, well, how do I get a tracking number? What is this? The number one company out there is called CallRail. They'll help you set up a tracking number. They have integrations into most CRMs. They'll set it up for you, and then you can pass numbers in and you can go and see where your calls actually came from. If you want to try CallRail out, I'll put the link down in the comments.
