Phil Risher explains why top Google rankings no longer guarantee traffic. Sixty-four percent of searches end with zero clicks, and AI answers cite pages outside the top 10 seventy-five percent of the time. Ranking number 1 is now the 6th or 7th thing you see on a search engine results page. You have ads, LSA, search ads, AI answers, featured snippets, all sitting above the number 1 ranking. And also, 64% of searches end with 0 clicks. Nobody clicks on the blue links anymore. And it gets even crazier. A study tested 500 keywords across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google. 75% of AI citations went to pages outside of the top 10. So you could rank 4th and still only have 2.6% shot of even showing up in an AI answer. So ranking number 1, not the advantage that it used to be, and it's not even close, to be honest. And you probably notice it, your website traffic is dropping. Fewer people actually visit websites now, and Google made it official. They changed the search results page. When you search something, it defaults to AI mode, not the 10 blue links that you're used to. Those are now buried. So here's what you should actually do, create content that people are searching for. So a really big one is pricing content. How much does something cost? And even better than that, Use your customer calls to get real customer questions and create content off of those customer calls. This gives you the real customer questions, the real information that they're asking that now you can create content on to leverage inside of AI search.
