Phil Risher calls out the "silent bleed" that kills business growth: not knowing where your leads actually come from. His home-service company once labeled every lead "Google" and had no idea what was working. Without real data, you're guessing. Once you track it, you see what works and where to grow.

There's a section in my book where I break down this thing called the silent bleed, and there's 3 different silent bleeds. The first one is probably the most impactful, and that's in data. When you do not have the data coming into your business and it's bleeding out, you feel like you're just operating on gut feeling. When I was at my home service business, we did not know how many leads we were getting every single month. We did not know how many jobs we were booking every single month. Every single time, our customer service representative just put Google as the lead source. This is the silent bleed because without data, you can't make good decisions. Once you get the data dialed in, it illuminates what's working, what's not, what you need to fix, how you need to fix it, and it helps you grow your business.
