Phil Risher explains why generic blog posts fail for local service businesses. Instead, write city-specific case studies that tell the full project story: how customers found you, your process, why they chose you. Google rewards geo-targeted content over broad posts.

Why is local content the best for your business? If you're a local service business and you're not creating localized content, then you're missing the whole mark on search engine optimization. What this means is that if you're not creating blog post or content that has to do with your specific local area, then Google is showing it to everyone. And so one way that we recommend doing this is by creating localized content, such as case studies, which is a really good one. So for example, if you do kitchen remodeling, or if you do air duct cleaning or carpet cleaning, you can could do a kitchen remodel case study in a specific city that you completed this job in. And you can tell the story of how did this customer find you? What was the process that you used for this service? Why did they pick you in particular, what was unique about this project? And you can tell the story, but more importantly, you can get that geo target, which is that city that you do service in, linked up with your service that you do offer, which Google loves. Good luck.
