Phil Risher says founders who approve every decision become the bottleneck that caps growth at $1-3 million. Scaling to $5-10 million requires repeatable systems that run without you, freeing you to lead instead of micromanage.

Yo, if every decision needs your blessing, you're building a church, bro, not a company. If you are the one that's making all these decisions, or people have to run everything by you, then you are the bottleneck on every single thing in your business, and you're never going to scale past $1 to $3 million because it takes systems. And systems allow you to step back and step away, and people running the systems— if it takes your blessing on everything, your blessing on the estimate, all the stuff, this is probably why you're stuck. One of the biggest things we see from people that make the shift from like $1 to $3 million to $3 to $5 and then $5 to $10 million, it's not more leads, it's not even more ad spend or marketing, it's that they have a system in their business that runs. And it could be a sales system, it could be a marketing system, but runs without them. And it allows them to be freed up to actually lead the company, to manage scorecards, to build leaders in the company. And that's really what we need from $1 to $3 million business owners. It's not better sales, not more leads. It's building systems inside of their business so that way they can scale and open up opportunities.
