Dear Amber, My 23 year old has only been home from rehab for about three weeks and they're already whining about going to meetings. I mean, I just spent $30,000 sending him to rehab. And he promised when he got out, he was gonna go to 90 meetings in 90 days. Like we talked about it, he agreed to it, but he still wants to complain and fuss. Now, I know when you're in this situation, you're gonna want to be defensive.
You're gonna want to say, why are.
You complaining about this? You already agreed to this. You have to put your recovery first. When they complain about going to meetings is I want you to say, you know what? It really is tough. I get it. Like, sometimes.
You just don't feel like going.
And sometimes you get tired of hearing some of the same people say the same things. It's not easy to keep it up and do this day out. But you know what? I am so proud of you. I have so much respect for you, for pushing yourself to do what you have to do to make sure you stay sober. If you think the second response is likely to give you a better outcome, press the like button, and if not, tell me why in the comments.
