About selecting a sponsor or recovery coach. Now, I've had clients in the past tell me something along these lines. They'll say, you know what? I need a real hard ass because I'll just get by with anything. And I need someone that's gonna kick my ass and make me do right. And I'll say, mmm, let's think about that. I agree. You need somebody that's smart enough to understand what you're thinking and what you're doing. And if you're being all sneaky or shady and that can call you out on it. But if you get a real hard ass, like, it's almost like the principal or the punisher, and you're just not gonna feel safe to reach out to them, you're not gonna feel safe to say, I had a relapse or I need to pick up a white chip. And it's really important to be able to say that to someone. So, yes, people, pick a sponsor or a coach that's with it, that gets it, that's assertive, and that can talk to you about tough things. But don't pick somebody that's just mean or ugly or rude, because it's gonna be super hard to be vulnerable with them. And that's a key thing that happens in the recovery process.
