Families of Addicts-This is a MUST watch video!

Amber Hollingsworth (master addiction counselor and founder of Hope for Families Recovery Center) presents a motivational YouTube video arguing that families and friends have substantial power to influence an addicted loved one’s path to recovery. She rejects the common advice that families are powerless, offers two reasons (the advice is inaccurate and ineffective), shares her professional background (15 years, experience in detox and outpatient), and emphasizes practical actions viewers should take: watch recovery-story testimonials on the channel and subscribe to access playlists and resources. The video positions family engagement plus professional information as a decisive combination to speed recovery and repair family systems.

This video is all about helping you understand that you've got a lot more power and control to help your addicted loved one than you think. Okay? Yeah. I know you've been told that you're powerless over the situation, that you have to wait until they want it for themselves. Well, I say forget that. And you know why? I've got two reasons why I say that. First, and most importantly, those things aren't accurate. There's actually a lot of things that you can do that will increase the chance that someone will make the choice to get into recovery. And the second reason why I say forget that theory is because it just doesn't work like that. If someone you love goes down the tubes, guess what? A piece of your heart goes down the tubes with them, and most of the time, destroys the entire family system. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Amber Hollingsworth. I'm a master addiction counselor and founder of Hope for Families Recovery Center. And for the past 15 years, I've been working with people with drug and alcohol problems. And you know what I've learned from all that work? You know, early in my career, I thought it was just me, because all of my clients just kept coming back in, like the revolving door. I mean, they wouldn't be out there a few days, and they would be back in the hospital. I worked in detox. I worked in outpatient programs. And no matter what I did, it just wasn't working. So I decided, dang, I'm just not very good at this. I. I better figure this out. So I took courses, and I got certificates, and I got credentials, and I got more license. I pretty much ended up getting about anything and everything that you could get in the world of substance abuse counseling, and it still didn't make that big of a difference. And eventually, through a lot of trial and error, I actually figured out the key to helping people get clean and sober. You know what that is? You. It's the family and the friends and the loved ones that actually hold all the power and the control. Now, as a substance abuse specialist, I might have the information, but you have the power and control. And when you put those two things together, that is a combination that works. Trust me. It is like every addict's nightmare to have their family get in touch with the right pieces of information, because once that happens, it's done. It's just a matter of time, which is exactly what this channel is all about. It's all about helping empower families with the right information so that you can make the right decisions that actually shape the environment and the thinking of the addicted person. And when you do that, those walls of denial come down so much faster. Now, there's a little bit of truth in the fact that you can't fix the addiction. But guess what? You can speed that process up. You can put the right ingredients necessary to increase the chances that someone is actually going to get clean and sober. Okay, I know what you're thinking. Why do I have to do all the work? They're the ones that done messed it up. I'm the one that does all the work already. Well, it's not fair. There's nothing fair about it. There's nothing fair about the things that I'm going to teach you. But it is effective. If you get your loved one in a recovery, you're going to know it is absolutely worth it. Because if you change one life, you change the life of their entire family. And all of those people in that family and the person in recovery, they go out there and they change the lives of the people that they come into contact with. And ultimately, that changes the world. It's time for us to start thinking a little differently about how to beat this problem. Okay, now that I've said all that, there's two things that I want you to do. The first thing I want you to do is watch and listen to some of the recovery stories that are on the recovery story playlist in this channel. You know why? Because when you do that, you're going to get to see the miracle of recovery. And I get to see this every day. And there's absolutely nothing like it. I mean, you watch people transform from the lowest, most selfish, most crummy people into the most wonderful, selfless, awesome people that you can imagine. And I really want you to know how possible that is. So watch some of those stories. And in fact, as you go through this process, you may want to come back to some of those stories and watch some more, because it may get hard in there along the way, but it is possible. And when you see the lives that have been changed in those stories, you're going to know to yourself it is absolutely worth it. You won't be able to help but connect to the people in those stories, and you're going to get to see all the wonderful things that those people are doing to impact their lives and their families and their communities in a positive way. So once you do that, the second thing I want you to do is subscribe to this channel, because subscribing to this channel is what's going to give you access to the information that you need to make this miracle happen in your family. And just a little word of advice on how to navigate the information on this channel. Things are put into categories and playlists. So there are playlists on treatment options. There are playlists on helping people out of denial. There are playlists just for parents, just for opiates. And make sure you hit the bell when you subscribe to this channel to be notified when we release something new. Hey, and thanks for checking out this channel. I'm looking forward to being able to be a part of your journey, because together we're going to make some miracles happen.
