How can you, as maybe someone who cares about— you have a loved one or a friend or a coworker or something that you care about— how can you encourage them to seek help? I think the best thing to do is to make it less scary because that's what I do when people come to my office. I make it less scary. Like, I'm not uptight. I'm not sitting there with my clipboard writing down everything they're saying. Super casual. And I actually listen to what they have to say and I actually agree with them most all the time. And occasionally I just have some little something I can add in to what they're saying. But people usually know what they need because they know themselves. They know what they've tried. They know what works for them. They know what doesn't work for them. And if you just listen, you can get that out of them. And so it's all about making it less scary.
