So a lot of people tell me either about themselves or about someone they know. They tell me the story of this person who got in a car accident or who had a sports injury, and they went to the doctor and the doctor prescribed them pain pills, and all of a sudden they got addicted. Well, it may seem simple, like, oh, doctors just shouldn't prescribe those medicines, or they should really watch out because they're really addicting. But if you've been paying attention to the lessons here, then you're gonna know that it really isn't necessarily the drug or the substance, alcohol, anything, that's causing the problem. Remember, you've got to have that inherent vulnerability and that difficult time in life. So, yes, sometimes people get prescribed pain medicine or other kinds of medicine and they become addicted. But it's not just because they got prescribed it. It's not just the medicine. Usually it's because of the difficult time that they're going through. So if you had some sort of surgery during a time that you had some sort of major loss, like maybe you were an athlete and you had a surgery which meant you weren't really ever going to be able to play, least play like you used to play. It's not just that you're given the prescription, it's that you're given the prescription and you have that really tough time in your life. So you start using the prescription to medicate that problem. That's when it develops into addiction. It's not just because the doctor prescribed you something. It's when you're using something. No matter if the doctor prescribes it, you bought it off the street, or you got it out of your kitchen cabinet. When you're using that something to medicate some problem inside, that's when you're set up for major trouble.
