Raele Altano shows three ways to dodge personal questions: say no directly, stay vague with "I'm honestly not sure," or redirect by asking about them instead. Practice the redirect first since it feels easiest.

There are three ways to avoid answering personal questions that you just don't want to give the answer to directly. With ambiguity or with a subtle redirect. Directly looks like I prefer not to answer that. Or here's another version with a little empathy. I get why you'd want to know, but I'd rather not get into it right now. Ambiguity looks like, you know, I'm honestly not sure. I'd have to look into that. Or an even simpler one. We'll see. And a subtle redirect bridges the question to a neutral topic or puts the focus on the person asking the question. So something like this, you know, I couldn't tell you, but speaking of that. And find a way to bridge to the neutral topic or something like how about you though? How are things? Redirect it back to them, let them talk. This one takes a little bit of practice and I would recommend doing that when you are in a low stakes environment and not in the moment in real time. But once you run through it a few times and have those neutral topics to bridge to, it will be so much easier for you, I promise. So bottom line, you have options. Either choose not to answer with a direct statement ambiguity or subtle smooth redirect. I'll show more examples in future videos, but for now I hope this was helpful.
