The speaker offers example phrasings (e.g., “I’m sensing a lot of rudeness… I’m going to put an end to this conversation” or questions like “Why are you being so rude?”) and emphasizes that one should not normalize nor tolerate condescension or hostile energy.

This might be a hot take though. I don't really understand why. If someone is being rude or hostile to you in a conversation, whether in person, on the phone, via text, you have full right to call them out on that rudeness, on that hostility, and just stop that conversation. That approach in and of itself is a reason to shut the conversation down, or at least put a pause in it until you're both ready to speak in a productive, respectful way. We all want to have the best clapbacks or witty things to say, and if you follow me, you know that I share a lot of these suggestions already. But I All you need to do is say I'm sensing a lot of rudeness, I'm sensing a lot of hostility and I don't know why and I'm going to put an end to this conversation. Or if you want to pose it in the form of a question, you can say, why are you being so rude? Is there a reason why you're being so hostile? Bottom line though, we don't need to normalize and tolerate rudeness, hostility, someone being condescending and keep trying to continue that conversation or match their energy or come to a conclusion. We can call them out on their behavior and shut it down. I'm well with Rael, your communication coach, and I hope you know I am always in your corner.
