Okay if you tend to overshare when nervous, here is a tip that is quick to remember and execute in the moment as you're conversing. It's called the ABC method and it's one that I love to share with my clients. It's a helpful visual for pacing out what you want to say. If someone were to ask you what the first few letters of the Alphabet are, would you just say the whole thing from A to Z? No, right? Or would you share the first three letters and then the next set of letters and then the next set of letters? Think of oversharing in that same way. When you're nervous and tempted to overshare or rattle off the entire Alphabet from A to Z, pace yourself and share just a few points about what the person asked you about, AKA the first three letters of the Alphabet. Abc. Let them ask more questions and continue the conversation for you to then share more information or continue the next letters of the Alphabet. Quick little tip. Keep it in your back pocket and let me know if it works for you.
